I had some friends/fellow collectors over last night to watch a DC Animated movie and they checked out my TF collection. One of them pointed out the fading of the neon orange tips on my Classics Megatron. I had not noticed it before but what really pisses me off is that none of my figures are ever exposed to any sunlight and yet sure enough the neon orange is fading alright!

It's bad enough that Hasbro could not get away with the Henkei colors for Classics Megs but to have the orange tips fading either due to bad paint quality or the plastic not taking to the neon paint very well over time is just adding insult to injoury so to speak. Consequently I will be going to my local hobby shop today to pick up a Henkei Megs to replace my now fading Classics Megs.

Of course on the bright side my son is getting a new TF and he doesn't even know it yet! :D  :thumbs2:

So you're saying that the NEON ORANGE PARTS are becoming darker?

How is this a bad thing?

Edit: Do you smoke, if so that could be why.

fading means the orange is coming out of it i think, which is not surprising, neon tends to fade rather quickly

Not becoming darker. Becoming lighter. Mine's done the same thing. But I'd painted over most of the orange parts long ago. The only parts I can tell have changed color on mine are the hip joints. All the other orange parts on mine are painted over.

I've never had my Megatron in light either. And I most definitely don't smoke. Nor does anyone in my family.

Nope, I don't smoke. And the orange parts are becoming LIGHTER. I suppose that one could see this as a good thing but given the Nerf color nature of Classics Megs fading neon orange parts really don't look good. Trust me on this. At least I have a good excuse to buy Henkei Megs. :D

As much as I hate to break it to you (or even to myself), we have to keep in mind that these toys are cheaply-made, (relatively) cheaply-sold mass-produced products that weren't intended to last decades and decades. Your toys will be damaged, faded, stress-marked, etc over time.

    :(

Well if you like henkei Megs' better,it's a win-win for you and your son.

    :thumbs2:

But the thing is, is Megatron the only one that this is happening to?

You can't imagine what a colour fading looks like? REALLY? Or are you just bumping your post count?

Yeah, the neon orange does seem to fade quickly. I don't think there's much you can do about it, and I'm not sure I'd want to anyway. It was the worst part of the colour scheme, and something I keep meaning to paint over.

The barrel cap snaps off easily. Paint the scope tip black.

    Problem solved.

That sucks, but Henkei is the way to go with Megatron IMO.

Haven't had the ability to take a picture yet as I work on the weekends. But I kind of figured that most of us are imaginitive enough to be able to picture in our heads what I'm talking about.

Yes, my Classics Megs is the only one I'm having this problem with. And I picked up the Henkei Megs today. Man, is it 100 times better looking! And my son is happy as can be right now playing with HIS Classics Megatron.

You are assuming that Henkei Megs was an option for me to buy at the time I bought Classics Megs. I was one of the first people in my area to spot and buy the entire wave 1 of the Classics 1.0 when they were released. So no, I couldn't have bought Henkei Megs in the first place! But I can now, and I did today.
