Pretty simple custom here. I removed the paint from the first classics Starscream mold, swapped some parts with Ramjet (the dark grey parts), added a little silver paint here and there and attached the Leader-1 head and wing converters that comes with the classics Starsceam coronation kit from Megavolt Robot Factory (MRF 00001) that can be seen here Henkei Classics - Starscream - Crown, Cape, Shoulder Armor & Cannon Custom Upgrade Kit

Looks good. i would have put the head on backwards and switched the arms to make it look more like the original figure, but what you did is very nice

Well the head is made for the mold. It's sold with the coronation set for starscream as an added bonus to make such a figure. I'm surprised I haven't seen more of this guy around here. As far as the head goes it does leave a gab in jet mode but it's hardly noticeable

Love what youve done. Really captures the original. Just a suggestion though, If you happon to make a 2.0 verison, might I suggest the reversal of the head so the back of the plane if the chect. Mor similer to the original that way. I plan on something similer but want to take it all the way ( wings on the legs insted of back) but have no clue on how to accomplish this.

what did you use to strip the paint from the body, 92% alcohol? came off super clean and the plastic still has a nice sheen on it.

Thanks guys. I'm just not a fan of the reverse or correct body depending on how you look at it. I've seen it done a few times and I just don't dig it. To me the head and greyness is what really says Leader-1

    Thanks man!

Thanks SQ7. You and I seem to be on the same page about most custom stuff. Must be the original love for Alternators that put us on the same path :D

I usually use 99% alcohol to get paint off and let it soak for 12-24 hours. It's not as clean as it looks though. There are little tiny bits of reddish orange paint here and there but not really noticeable unless looked at very closely

    See above

I've been planning a Leader 1 for ages. Originally I was gonna do some serious mods to make him look more like the original toy. Then that Coronation set came out, and I decided to keep that I'd keep it simple and pretty much do exactly what you've done. I'm glad to see that it'll look fantastic.

The partswapping with Ramjet is genius, it really breaks up the all grey color scheme, and the use of silver is subtle but effective. The jet mode looks really good in all grey/silver too! Awesome job.

I agree 100%. The seeker body just doesnt lend itself very well to the backwards transformation, and the wings look too big on the legs too me.

Good stuff. I really want that L-1 head, but I don't really want to spend money on the coronation kit to get it.

I thought it was a little obvious that there was already a niche of Gobot customizers on here as well as Sector70 (myself included). And the love to make Gobot customs, as far as I can tell, dates back 2-3 years. I'm aware of Gobot-inspired customs before then, but I don't think the enthusiasm was as good as it's been in recent years.

Thanks for the very insightful comments.
    Word
HAHA no it's just from Fred Meyers. I think it's the store brand
Yeah the price of the set is a bit high if you don't intend to use the whole thing. I've seen it on sale for $20 or less but at the moment it's $24. I personally wish they would sell the null rays and the wing hinge as a separate set.
    Thanks Spoony!
