I agree with you on this guy. Especially the lack of thigh swivels is what's hurting this TF. Some designs can get away with lack of thigh swivels, some cannot. Skyfire cannot.
Also, I think this toy interpretation of Skyfire is just too bulky, instead of being the tall giant he was supposed to be in the comics/cartoons.
About the smelliness ; perhaps you kept it in the basement where you might have wall rot ( moist inside the wall which creates fungi ).
I also don't like how they used this mold for the Dreadwind character, who's supposed to be a single engine F16.
It's especially annoying because almost all of the rest of Classics had competent poseability, except for Astrotrain, who had to accommodate two alt modes. Jetfire, while he looks nice enough, just isn't that good. His articulation isn't even much better than his G1 figure. While he can spread his legs, his arms are worse.
And to add insult to injury, his G1 figure's mold can be obtained MISB relatively cheaply in the form of Bandai's numerous reissues of the Takatoku VF-1s, which is, overall, the better, more fun, less frustrating toy.
