From the moment I first saw PCC Icepick, I saw the similarity to the G1 Monster Pretender - who are a favourite sub-group of mine. Long, clawed hands, scaly/ridged helmet, general body shape... I know, he doesn't transform into a monster, so why not pretend this is his Cybertronian mode? (We know there is rain on Cybertron... maybe there is ice and snow too...)

So, I first removed the ugly combiner pegs from the shoulders, then the smaller head, and got to repainting. To note - the red shiney paint is not metallic, sadly my apartment is unlit by natural light during winter, so I had to use flash, which makes it appear that way.

I mixed out the greenish-turquise-blue paint myself, used matte grey for the treads and wheels, and spiced it up with silver in some places.

    Robot mode:

I plan to repaint Sledge next - into "Classics" Slog. He reminds me a lot to the stocky small Monster Pretender in robot mode, especially the bulky arms and the head.

I really like the color scheme. some of the paint seems thicker in certain spots. what kind of paint are you using? may I suggest citadel. I also really dig the larger head as the main head for this figure. looks great.

While I'm not a big fan of the spiky head, you've actually made it work pretty well here. I'm also really impressed at how well your faithful translation of his robot mode deco actually translates into his vehicle mode too. Nice job!

I use Deka - I mixed up the turquise from at least three colors (dark blue, grass green and ocher). However for the red (and the black I mixed it with), I used some very blotchy, shiny paint I had left over from an ancient model kit of a Ferrarri Testarossa. In retrospect, it wasn't a good choice, and it is too thick, but it was the only red I had at home.

This. As it happens, I'm making a set of double PCC ports so that PCC Commander figs can be linked together. If you'd kept the plugs on the shoulders (or if they can be reattached), you could do the whole team and have them combine! :D

Hmm, now that's an interesting idea!

I have already thought about creating Slog from PCC Sledge. Any ideas for the others? I reckon Birdbrain and Wildfly should be jets...

I think Wildfly should be a jet; I'm not sure about Birdbrain. His shell was a flyer, but his robot mode was more of a beaky quadruped. That said, I can see either Searchlight or Skyburst working reasonably well; Skyburst does have a very beaky nose...
