So after getting my Dreadwind (Hasbro messed up as it should be Darkwing) and looking at Universe 2.0 Silverbolt I thought it would be easy to make a Masterforce Hydra mod.

Whoa was i in for a lot of work. Pain in the butt to work around all the wiring. Lots of dead end pins too. Difficult to pop out and long. But I got it done. Had to paint the legs and shoulders red. I didnt get a chance to paint the feet red. i might do that later.

So here is the G1 Masterforce Hydra. Thanks to Seibertron for the pic.

And my Classics 2.0 Hydra repaint.

    that is very nice!!!

did you think about doing the feet red? i saw the heel is red, but the original has the red front feet, that might have looked nice too to break up the black and grey in the legs and even the red through out the body.

    but still sweet!

haha yeah. I forgot about the feet. If you read my post, I pointed that out. I will get around to it. I am an impatient modder and the legs were probably the number one pain in the a$$ to take apart. Due to the huge pin that holds those orangey/red rear feet parts. that pin holds the whole lower leg together.

When I got all the parts ready for painting I forgot about the feet cause I didnt take them apart yet. I was focused on the huge mess silverbolt and Hydra were in with their guts and wires spilled out all over the place. another PIA was the fact that there are so many different sized screws it gets a little annoying searching for the right screw amongst a graveyard of parts.

That's pretty nice. I'd add a visor to complete the look.

yeah I suppose. Im just lazy. i just shot fusion red right onto the plastic. I may try to dry brush more red on the shoulders and legs but again im lazy!!!

Yeah I got it all worked out in my head. But i dont want to mod my Botcon Dreadwing. So it will take a little time to get a recast of the head and mod my Jetfire.

As I said in the cool stuff thread, I'll definatly be doing this once I get a Darkwing. Masterforce is one of my favourite Transformer series'.

    Fantastic custom, great work :thumb

Good luck. It was a real pain. the pin for the rear foot section is over one inch long. Also the pin does not use crosshatching to lock it in place. rather, the pin has like one way segments.

Like a small tiny version of Dinobot's Sword
Dinobot - Beast Wars Transformers Toy Gallery - Photo #71

The way I removed them was the use a flat head screwdriver and a pair of sprue cutters. To try and pry the pin out from the end. Not the end that is exposed but the other side. it is buried into the other half of the leg by only a little bit. Once you clear that out the leg half can come out. then it is a matter of whacking the new exposed end of the pin back out.
