I really prefer Hasbro's version of classics 2.0 to Henkei this time around. I don't like the chrome on the Henkei versions. The only exception for me with 2.0 so far is that I really like Henkei Silverbolt a lot compared to the Universe. The cartoon-like paint job on that character makes me hold off on Hasbro's version of the Arielbot leader. Of course, the figures transformation process doesn't have me in any rush.

However, Takara's versions of Megatron, Sky Warp, and Astrotrain are quite superior to the Hasbro counterparts imo. Their paint jobs are a hell of a lot nicer...and a better homage to the classic look of the characters. The purple on Hasbro Megs drives me nuts. The purple legs and wings on the back are a big turn off to me, but that Henkei paint scheme makes up for it.

I plan to get these Henkei versions soon, along with Thundercracker. Classics 2.0 deluxe wave 4 and Inferno first though.

Big thanks for the comparison pictures, TB! I was tempted to dump all my Hasbro classics for the Henkei versions at first, but it looks like I'll be reconsidering that (for most of them anyways).

TBH there is things I like about each version. If I had the $$$ i would buy both and kitbash them together with parts from each and make the ultimate version with the best of both worlds....ea: Gank the chrome from henki prime and slap it on Classics prime... or replace the chrome on henki Grimlock with Classics grey peices with rubsign.

Indeed ckhtiger you just mentioned the 3 Henkei that I like most. I never purchased Classics Astrotrain or Megs so Im thinking I will get their Henkei ver. AND def the Henkei Sunstreaker. I will keep my Classics SS around for a possible Red Alert Repaint.

Useful post, someone should archive these. Cheers.

Personally, I hugely prefer the Henkei versions, as far as Prime, Megs, Sunstreaker, Bumblebee, Hot Rod, Astrotrain, Starscream,
& Mirage are concerned... those photos really show up the differences. The darker paintjob on Sunstreaker alone just kills it.

Very nice! Man, I know the camera might be pushing contrast a bit, but now my Target Skywarp looks pinkish to me. I really like the purple of the Henkei version more.

The camera does brighten up the figures but even without that the Target Skywarp is more pink than purple.

This thread just reinforces that I want the Henkei Prime. It just looks much cleaner.

It makes sense when his legs become the T-Rex' neck... in terms of G1 Grimlock homage...

I just wish I could afford Henkei versions AND Hasbro versions... I would then make one REALLY decent figure of each charactr taking the best of both versions.
