Sharpened his Dino-teeth, gave him a paint job for semi-realism (the metal armor look) and add a few washes to age him a bit. I still want to add some washes to his yellow painted areas before I call him finished and I still want to add an autobot decal to his chest.

I compared him to my Henkei Class Grimlock so you could see his prior gray plastic colors.

He's basically a test custom I did to prepare myself for the MP version I am working on now.

VIDEO REVIEW shows far better metal accuracy - check it out here: YouTube - Classics Grimlock Update (Nearly Done)

I love your work!! Your Grimlock looks so much better than the original toy. Great dark grey/metal look, and the teeth are superb!

Looks very cool. The worn metal look turned out great. Makes me want to paint mine.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your feedback. This one served as a pre-test custom for my MP Grimlock which will be revealed soon enough...:)

Give it a go Cheetor, it's one of those 'fun' custom repaints.

    Hey hey Nemesis!

This is looking pretty good! The only thing I would add is a little panel lining on the colored areas with either black or a darker shade of the respective colors. Perhaps some dry brushing to make those areas match the finish on the gun metal gray areas.

I hope you don't mind me posting a picture of one of my customs as an example:

I put some grime in all the gold areas to make him look dirty. I used a wash technique with some watered down black and just deliberately gooped over the entire gold areas and then wiped off the excess with a paper towel.

Great job! I don't have the voyager version of Grimmy but when I get him I plan to paint him much like you have.

Hey Nyarlahotep, thanks for commenting man! You're right about the washes, I need to do those and I like the idea of adding grime to the color areas. I will have to do that too - I planned on some scuffing as well to replicate battle marks as well. Your Grimlock looks excellent! I may have to borrow your wiring effects :)

Thanks man, I worked on goldening the dino-yellow colors by drybrushing as you suggested and it came out awesome. It looks a lot better in person too. I also gave him some black wash on some of the panels as well to age him so to speak - again, thanks a lot man, I value your feedback!

This has turned out really well. Since the above quote is the case, why not post about your "test" with this. In other words, what were the things you were testing out? Painting methods (my guess)? What approaches did you take? What did you change with approaching this one as opposed to some of your other work? What are some things you felt with your painting methods worked? What didn't (if there are things you're wanting to change when you approach your MP Grimmy)?

The above questions are just to get you started, if you get the tree I'm barking up

I think this turned out really well; thanks for sharing :thumb
