I was in a Wal-Mart in Tampa and amongst what must have been almost 100 classics figures up for sale I spotted one Grimlock.

While awaiting the long checkout lanes I spotted a mistake on his card backing in the lower right hand corner where it lists the "also available" figures.

In the order of also available figures are Jetfire, Mirage, and Starscream, however Jetfire has been labeled. Astrotrain with Jetfire's picture instead.

Obviously this adds a unique collectable value to the figure being left unopened, has anyone else seen this mistake yet?

I live in the Tampa, Fl area.

    Here are some pictures.

You can see Grimlock's feet above.

Classics Mirage card backing (for comparison)

You can see Mirage's feet above.

Either way its a cool find or rumor of a mistake on the loose waiting for collectors.

I fogot to mention that the mistake name of Astrotrain also has the matchng Decepticon symbol despite having Jetfire's picture.

Oh well darn for the finding, but is it worth keeping sealed.

    I need a verdict

    Keep sealed

    or

Open it up to join the rest

I am stuck in an odd debate now.

I think that all the Grimlocks package have that mistake. Enjoy your toy and open it.

it's not a variant or a mistake, all of them are that way and I doubt they'll fix it. Go ahead and open it

It also says 'expoit' instead of 'exploit' in his bio. Woo!

You know, maybe I just haven't been collecting long enough or obsessively enough, but I find it difficult to fathom that anyone would pay anything extra just because a package has a printing error.

Are some things with errors really that much more valuable, or is that a collector's myth, brought on by speculators with dollar signs in their eyes?

Depends on the error. Some error packages are rarer, but only really on older toy lines. Anything modern you probably won't make your money back since everyone thinks "varient!!!" and immediatly snaps them up.

Now actually there is something of substance...I don't think I have heard a report of a corrected Grimlock card yet.

Jetfire is now Jetfire and Expoit has spelled to Exploit

Perhaps now we have a varian, not that it really matters.
