Seeing the latest combiner kitbashes has inspired me to try to figure out my own. I fiddled around with my classic autobots, and I came up with this:

The actual modding to make him combine would be very simple, and probably wouldn't need any add-on parts, which is very important to me. The head is just a stand-in (it's Prime's windvane gun), and I could probably make a proper transforming head out of the windvane.

With a proper paintjob, I think he could be a pretty cool combiner team, even though he would be a fan character. What do you think? Is the beast arm dumb? Does it look stupid? Is it too power ranger-ish? Is this project worth continuing?

Given your Options for a Classics Combiner, You have used every mold short of jetfire for the autobots. My only thought is, can you change around Grimlock with Mirage ??
Other than that it looks great. I'd like to see the Final product

Given what I have and the constrains I've set for myself, I don't think there can be any leg - arm switching. Each one works perfectly as it is:

Grimlock works great as an arm; he has a built-in hand as his head, is very articulated with an elbow and bicept swivel, and also has a built-in mounting point (the gun holder on his back).

Hotrod also makes a good arm, with his feet as claws, and elbow articulation.

Bumblebee makes a good solid foot (can't do much more with him), and Mirage makes a good leg as well, AND they are both the same hight in leg mode, AND have convenient mounting points to attach to Prime's feet.

I've already figured out how to fit a head into the windvane, without destroying any of it's functions, I just need to think of a paint scheme. Unfortunately, I'm no good with paint schemes. I'd also like to come up with a crotch plate to make his hips look better, while keeping it useful with one of the bots.

What about a Computron paint scheme. Kinda has that look to it.

I love the idea! I think Grimlock does'nt fit in there however. I know choices are very limited but E Tow line could be used since he is in scale with the others or any other in scale TF.

This is just a concept, people. It isn't connected together at all, it's just lying on the floor. I just wanted some feedback on the idea to see if I should go further.

I think you should definitely continue with this. As for a paint scheme, my main suggestion would be to pick one component and try and make the others match it. If you don't like that, you could a.) do a "nemesis" look, b.) give it the color scheme of another combiner (Superion, Devastator, etc.) or c.) something else entirely. It's totally up to you. I really like the look of things so far, and I hope this comes to fruition. Keep us posted :thumb

Did a little more fiddling with the transforms, and with the help of some paper clips, I now have a standing example:

And a close-up so you can see how the head will work:

You can see how the combiner head could fit into the windvane gun, if I hollow it out a bit and split it in half. It looks like there may also be room in Prime's front bumper for a fold-out crotchplate.

Anybody wanna take a crack at photoshopping a paint scheme?

For some reason I see him based more on a Mirage color scheme..Heavy on the white with like blue trim and highlights.

I think that it looks really promising. I would say continue with it, it should turn out really well. For the paint I really do not have any strong opinions on. It looks fine as is too, if you decided to leave it.

In my opinion, it doesn't "need" a color scheme. It looks fantastic as it is.

maybe use cliffjumper as the other leg and instead of grimlock use mirage as the other arm.
