After destroying one Cliffjumper (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=123145) I was lucky enough to find another one, I didn't make the same mistake this time.

    [EDIT]
Just for clarification, the silver paint is still on the roof because the roof is actually clear plastic that has been painted over at the factory, the only way to get rid of it is to paint over it and it's an odd shade of red that I don't have a match to.

    Changes:
-Stripped off a lot of silver paint
-Stripped blue paint off of headlights
    -Painted grill, scoop and radiator
    -Painted behind headlights silver
    -Painted door handles and mirrors
    -Detail on rear bumper
    -Bumblebee's spoiler

He is practically BEGGING for some rally decals in car mode, that will be next.

    VERY nice!

The application of the black is really clean, what did you use? marker or paint?

I personally like it like it is... he's got the tuner look, but nothing over the top. :D

Yeah, looks good dude. It's up to you, but honestly, I just say go for it - strip the roof and use a generalized red. I mean, if you don't like the color matchup, then that's that, but...I'd do it. :D

Banshee - The black paint apps were done with a brush and a steady hand, I've been painting models since I was a wee lad. :)

Other guys - I'm going to look for a match to the red paint, I'm not sure how to go about stripping the roof, that particular type of clear plastic DOES NOT like alcohol it clouds up and cracks (I know this from the Cliffjumper I destroyed which I also tested the paint matching with).

D_C that's looking very good. I plan on doing the same to mine at some point. That roof paint is going to be a pain to fix.

I love Classics Cliffjumper as is, (I don't have him yet) So I can't wait to see him with his silver paint stripped! I certainly hope you don't damge him, it would be quite unfortunate.

Wouldn't that make his hollow chest just a wee bit more noticable?

good job so far man :)  The only thing non-positive that I have to say is that I don't get why you want a white spoiler on him.

Looks good what you've done to it so far, can't think of anything specific for improvements.
Maybe you can always pinstripe it of you can't find any good decals

My 1st Cliffy suffered the same fate at the hands of the alcohol bath. Clear plastic no likey alcohol. My second Cliffy looks much like yours except I kept the silver on the hood scoop. I really like the black door handles and mirrors-I may borrow that idea from you.

    Looks good DC.

I kind of like the silver on the roof.
The flames were too overdone on the retail release, but seeing them on the roof with the other silver\gray accents you left looks cool.

why not use silver paint to make the roof paint scuffs into a triangle?

I just got Cliffjumper today and I want to remove the blue paint from the headlights. Is alcohol bad for that, or does your statement only apply to the roof? Actually, I've already rubbed some alcohol on the right light with a q-tip and it doesnt seem to be coming off, do I need something stronger? Unfortunately this is all I have.

I used alcohol on the headlights but be VERY careful when doing this, alcohol will fuck them up.

Use small amounts on the tip of a q-tip and use patience, it took me nearly 20 min per headlight.
