I have said it from the first time I saw pics of classics BB, I was going to get rid of that stupid white paint.

Well, I did among other things.

I took the whole figure apart which was a pain in the ass - most of his upper body is held together by pins.

I soaked all the car parts (except the roof and front end) in alcohol to get the paint apps off. The other stuff I scrubbed off with q-tips. I painted his grill and radiator black, painted the door handles, fixed the factory paint blotch on his leg, moved the rub symbol, and painted his eyes blue.

    PICS!

    Car mode first:

I painted over the roof with yellow acrylic...

Here you can see the painted door handles. I also filled in the grooves left by removing the spoiler with flat black paint, now they look like vents.

I learned the taillights are actually a separate part from the rest of BB's back end, they are also molded in clear plastic, the only problem is it has pins going through it and would looked ugly painted with transparent paint.

    I black-washed the gas cap.

This pics shows off the headlights better:

Next post will be bot mode pics!

Here he is in 'bot mode

Just to show off the paint job on his chest (I had to paint the whole thing because my yellow paint didn't match the factory paint)

A closeup of his head to show the painted eyes:

    That looks totally sweet!!!
    Nice job!
I have been planning to do the exact same thing when I get mine except that I also wanted to take off the vents to give it smooth roof look. I feel this will give him even more of a G1 feel.

Looks good. Any plans to add an Autobot symbol? Besides the rub sticker, I mean.

Looks great! I've been thinking about changing the white trim to black if I update one, but the straight yellow looks pretty hot too.

That looks awesome. How long did you have to soak the parts? I tried some isopropyl alchohol last night and it didn't do shite.

Excellent work, DC. The "back-to-basics" look for the Bee makes him look awesome.

really really nice job bro! Just one question: why didn't you just open the screwhole on the back of his head so his light-piping worked? His eyes are actually a tranluscent blue :)

Apprently the spoiler pops off, no glue or anything.

It looks nice, but I'm not sure why you painted the slots for the spoiler black. I'm not a fan of where you out the rub symbol too. I prefer symetry. Still a good mod though.

Have you considered paitng him with a metalic yellow paint to make him too more real? That would be awsome.

How do you get behind the headlights to paint them? Is it just screws holding them in?

DC, your work looks really nice! You've done well with attention to detail (lovin' the wash on the gas cap) as well as overall design aesthetic. Personally, I like the fact that he only has the rub sign visible in alt mode (if you wanted to add a faction symbol, perhaps the side of the shoulder to keep it hidden in alt mode?)

Sometimes taking away (like the white paint) adds just as much as actually adding something with paint apps, etc. Again, nice work!

Do you have any other plans for other Classics?
