I've started working on a Classics version of Browning, the gun mold we didn't get in the West. As a base I'm using the Pistolbot from the Planet Fighter series. Here he is next to Classics Megatron in both gunmode and 'botmode:

So far I've remade his hands so he can hold one gun in each like the original Browning. The guns are modded guns I got from some cheap transforming dinosaur 'bots, I've also modded the shoulder panels a bit so they swing out, giving the arms more clearance from the main body. I would love to mod the legs so they can bend, but I'm not skilled enough to do that. Next is to make either a face swap or a resculpt of the existing face. I good face to use would be Actionmaster Devastator, but I don't have one... Don't have any putty either, so I can't scratchbuild a face. I'll have to do what I can with my very limited resources :)

EDIT: I used the power-up head from a spare Guard Star (Brave of the sun Fighbird series) to make Browning's face. It looks pretty cool, actually :)

As for painting, I have four options:

    1. Cartoon accurate colours
    2. Toy accurate colours
    3. Freaky, bright, neon/nerf gun colours to match him with Megatron
    4. Keep the colours it has now, but highlight some of the details

    What do you think?

    Ok, quick update:

The head is a bit misaligned because it hasn't been attached yet.

That head really suits him. I think you should paint him to look more like Browning.

Yeah, but then he wouldn't really be on par with Megatron. I can't decide! Too many options, aaaargh! ;)

Thanks! :)  He'll look even better when he's painted and has some Reprolabels slapped on him!

Your welcome, bigpete. I hope when you get some reprolabels on him it would be awesome.

Yeah, I'll probably do that. My initial thought was that they would look cool as a pair, but they aren't even in the same series, hehe :)  I'll probably go with anime colors.

I absolutely love the gun mode. Not too crazy for the bot mode. The chest is bare. Maybe some repro labels would do some good. I love the idea, great job

Update: Started painting the figure now.

    First, part of the chestplate:

    And now, the head:

The original toy has black eyes originally, but I thought it would be too much black and besides, that red visor looks menacing. I did a drywash on it to muddle it, and did another wash just underneath the eyes, on the chin and neck, and around the nose to add some effect, and IMO it worked pretty well!

Ok, he's finished! A few notes though: In the picture, the original blue paint is bleeding through in some places. Why it does that I don't know, but that blue paint is NOT visible in real life. I'm not THAT sloppy, haha :)  He hasn't dried completely yet, so the gun mode pics will have to wait. Also, the silver parts look more "dirty" in real life. I washed them with gunmetal paint to give them a tarnished, "used" look, but the picture doesn't really show that. Now, I'm just waiting for my Reprolabels to get here, and he'll be all finished!

Paints used: Humbrol Enamel paints: Satin Black, Metallic Blue, Metallic Silver, Scarlet Red, Gunmetal, Matte Tan, Matte Kahki, and I covered the paint with gloss cote for protection.

Im a huge Browning fan so I'm looking forward to the final project. Looks good so far though. Could you do a few pics form all sides? I might want one, where did you get the base figure?

It's a 'bot called PistolBot, from the Planet Fighter series. It's distributed in Europe by Simba Toys, a German company. The toyline is most noted for its Yuusha KOs. I think I paid something like $10 for it, about a third of what a TF deluxe toy costs here. It has electronics as well, with lights and sounds. Will add a few more details on the paintjob while I wait for the Reprolabels, and redo some parts I'm not happy with. More pics later!

It looks really good. I'd try the same project if I could find a PistolBot... (Too bad there's none on ebay)

Try accenting the lines in the handle with black. It might break up the silver a bit.
