Here is my latest Classics articulation project: the Autobot speedster, Blurr. He was built up using the original G1 mold, along with some other donor bots (including Classics Sunstreaker and Starscream.) I built a stand for him so his car mode could emulate the "hovercraft" type locomotion he had in the 'toon. The front of the vehicle becomes a shield that can attach to either forearm via a magnet (a la G1.) Need to go back and revisit some of the paint apps (as these pictures usually bring things to light that I miss for whatever reason,) and then this guy is going up on e-bay this Sunday. Enjoy!
What happens when the intellectual licence of Transformers meets Wipeout... brilliant work, the proportions imho are excellent.
Wow! Nice to see Blurr getting and a very highly needed articulation update. I'll keep a close eye on him when he goes on ebay. And just when I was getting ready to post my next work-in progress..... Blurr (from the Marvel Spidey Mold). Also I see you've worked up a new Blurr head sculpt. I have your last one and I think it might work nicely on my Blurr. I know you don't do heads sculpts much anymore to sell but that new head scult looks nice. Do you happen to have any extra's?
Wipeout + TF's = Awesome. Blurr's bot mode looks great, it's the shield i don't like. Looks just a bit too long, and so does the car mode. But that's just me.
That's a beaut! Really, really nice use of other tfs re retool this one! I'll throw out two suggestions, though -the grey you're using for the windshield and the front sections of the car really don't seem to work for me...they're just too...grey. In fact, at first I thought this was an almost complete w.i.p. simply because of that grey! -Can't tell if it's just the photography catching every little detail, but do you brush on your paint or do you sometimes use spraypaint/airbrush? The reason I ask is that the paint job, although looking good, isn't as smooth as it could be and I thought it might be because it was applied with a brush... Hope you don't mind the suggestions! Really great job despite these minor details!
same here man sculptbot = the bot mod is a killer , i love how u incorprated all the classic parts in it ,the headsculpt is perfect ,when i just opend the post my jaw hit the floor ,this is the best blurr i have ever seen. but yes the shield is tad too long imo , but i guess its because of the starcream legs... man u r definitely one of my favorite bashers here !! please post a link to the ebay sale
You really beefed him up. I like how the legs fill in that front end. I was hoping that you might have modded his backpack/backend a bit more to reflect the IDW Blurr, but it still works in the original G1 style too.
I really like the robot mode - but I am loving that vehicle mode! You really helped that mold break free from the brick-syndrome that plagues 97% of geewun figures. I have an idea for ya tho; for vehicle mode, how about resting it on one of those clear polymer air-cushions used for mailing packages? Glue some dust-coated (with paint) cotton balls around and it *fwoosh* dust-kicking hover-car action! ~Z
