Hey everyone. Here's my new gallery of Astrotrain. Hope ya like it. Take care.
Good work. I also like the photography, and using the mat as a floor - gives it a G1 vibe. That said, I do think he could use some detail work and a little more color - his windows, his chest, etc.
A on the work (like Speekio said, push the detail more), and A+ on the photos!
That Astrotrain is awesome. Very reminiscent of the cartoon charactor. Did you dye those parts???
Gorgeous! make me one?
Okay, if he looked like that, I might buy him. Hasbro, take note! Where did you get the mat or did you just make it somehow?
So so purdy...*drools*
Yeah, I got a little lazy on the details. But Astro never had much detail to him on the toon version. I wanted to keep him as grey as possible in robot mode.
icanfly: it's all spray painted. Cept for the purple/red details and head.
Triformis: The mat is just your standard cutting mat you find at hobby stores. Got this one at Beverly's.
that is just downright awesome
I love it! I think I've seen this one at TFmasters.com, havn't I?
Let me guess... that is Tamiya German Grey, right?
What exact color of purple did you use?
Man that looks much better...makes you wish Hasbro would have given us actual classic colors on all the Classics Figures.
Man If anyone ever makes a repaint of Astrotrain like that, Ill buy it in a heartbeat. Very nice work man.
Great job, now make one for me!
Yep, it was at TFmasters but wanted to show the new gallery. Submitted one a few weeks ago. Guess their pretty busy right now.
German grey (spray) is correct and the purple is from Tamiya as well (brush).
I have a suggestion to make it look a bit more professional...you should panel line it. On the front of the shuttle mode, where the grey meets the purple, you can tell it's been hand painted. There's a handy panel line right there, that if filled in with black, would define the two colors a lot better. It would also help define the shuttle cockpit windows.
That, and paint the train mode windows.
I'd be willing to bet that before they finish out classics that we will see a repaint like that..
On topic. thats an awesome paint job.
Wow, tough crowd. I find the detail level perfect and the paint looks very professionally applied to me. The colors are perfect and the execution is flawless. Excellent work, I would try that on mine but I have a feeling we'll either get this via Hasbro eventually or even the Botcon set next summer.
Awesome job! With that paint scheme, even his train mode looks respectable.
