so, i went to walmart yesterday, hopeing to grab metroplex or menasor...neither of which were there...so i look around, and i see classics hanging on the minicon price point peg....4.76 says the tag...i know thats not right, but decide "hey, its there, why not try for that price" i even took it to the scanner to check the real price, and it wouldnt register, said to ask for help...so i take it to the counter, hand it to the girl (a new employee), it rings up for 9.87...i say it was on a peg that said 4.76, so she goes to change the price and after tax it comes out to $1.88....she says, thats not right, and i say id take it for that price...she smiles and says she cant...so she calls a manager, manager checks toy aisle appologizes to me, and rings it up...comes up as 1.88 after tax again...apparently walmart has some policy now where if they make a pricing error, they take extra money off...so, astrotrain was 4.76 - 3 bucks = 1.76 plus tax is 1.88...i hand the guy 2 bucks, and he hands me back 13 cents...so for 1.87 i got astrotrain...pretty freakin sweet...i tried to see if i could go back and get more that were on the wrong peg, in an attempt to get all 4 deluxes for only 7.52 total...but he said i couldnt...but still a sweet deal nonetheless....

yeah, ive tried to argue prices before when stuff is in the wrong spot, and mostly fail, but i always try if it is...however, yesterday i had come right from work, so i was in nice slacks and a button up shirt, as opposed to the normal band tshirt and jeans...i bet that had an influence in my favor...

Pricing mistakes are one thing, but when you know full well what the problem is IMO you shouldn't be shifty. Back when Target had the pricing nightmare with the Titaniums and attacktix, I alerted the dept manager that the prices were switched.
He did some checking and the prices came back correct. I promised him they weren't and he pretty much said, "oh well, Cheers!" Now that I took advantage of, but in the case of something simply hanging on a peg that I know is wrong. Not so much.

Wow someone actually beat me in individual price for one... Though I doubt all of Wave 1 was cheaper than what I paid.

    'wrong peg' is kinda weak.

What is keeping people from intentionally hanging it on the wrong peg?

This was like how people would remove 'price tags' and put them on different boxes and force the store to give them the item at the marked price... Which is why most stores no longer use price tags.

Unless there was a 'store display' matching that item to that price or the sunday circular... Claiming it was hanging on a cheaper 'peg' is weak.

That 'error' price you saved gets absorbed and passed onto the rest of the consumers.

That's a little too close to stealing for my tastes. If it was marked with the wrong price, fine, but it was only on the wrong peg? You knew where it really belonged.

I dunno... it's a little shifty. A couple times, I found myself in similar situations with pricing errors and wondering if I should be feeling guilty about exploiting... Wal... Mart...

    ahem... er, nevermind. ;)

My local Walmart is too anal to do anything like that. I've found pricing errors with them before and they tried every way in the world to get out of it.

Yeah with as much exploiting as Wal*Mart does to the Wholesalers... I would call this Karma for Wal*Mart. Besides, it isn't like he went to the register knowing he would only be paying $2, he thought he would be paying $5 which is roughly half price. The extra $3 off was a Wal*Mart thing and was double-checked by a manager. I don't see any intentional stealing here, so I say Kudos on the (extremely) good deal.

Now had he actually gone back and bought the rest of the figures, knowing full well of the price they would ring up for... whole different situation.

    how is that?
there was no error, on the part of walmart... it rang up $10, he knew it was $10

was this one item on the wrong peg, or were all the classics on the minicon pegs?

so anyone can walk up to the cashier and say its a different price, and get $3 off, now?
