i recently snagged myself a set of classics from a local target by using a trick found on this page

    http://www.shortpacked.com/

read the page, its worth it anyway

and in the voyager assortment there was prime and megs, but no jetfire. i was wondering if there were two different case assortents for the first wave. if anyone has any information about this, it would be most apreciated.

in the meantime, it wa worth the wait to get bumblebee back. astrotrain, as one of the tfs i had when i was a kid is great to get back as well

Jetfire is Wave 2, simple as that. You wont find him for at least a month and when he's around, you'll see it make front page news

Yeah, they are. Typically Hasbro's waves always start out with overstocking the new ones, then each new figure they pack twice as many of as the previous figures, and always 8 deluxes and 4 megas/voyagers. So Deluxe Wave 2 will be:
1x Rodimus, Bumblebee, Starscream, and Astrotrain.
    2x Grimlock and Mirage

    And Mega Wave 2:
    1x Optimus Prime and Megatron
    2x Jetfire

Actually, reports from online retailers are that the three new figures in wave 2 are shortpacked, at least initially (BBTS said Grim and Mirage are shortpacked, Jetfire is confirmed one per case initially)

But Hasbro will no doubt be offering "revision cases" later on

That's possible, too, I just know usually that's the assortment pattern and I know they come in boxes of 8 deluxe figures... maybe the first revision includes two of the more popular Wave 1 (Starscream and Bumblebee I bet) and one of each of the rest.

I thought Jetfire was in Wave 1.5, not 2.

he's in wave 2, but they've also decided to release him in a modified assortment between 1 and 2, hence the 1.5 existing at all.

So that leaves us wondering, who will be shipping with him in Wave 2...

whatever the case, I'd like it if wave 1 stuck around. theres a lot of good figures and I want to see every human I know with more than $10 buy at least one.

Probably just more of Jetfire. Wave 1.5 is apparently the case BBTS is currently preordering, with only one Jetfire out of the four figures (I bet one version has an extra Megatron cut, while a revision has the extra Prime cut to accomodate Jetfire, or vice versa). Wave 2, as I understand it, was probably what you predicted, and if new Voyager figures are made, will probably fall in the category of waves 3 and above.

To clarify the point you and Shipley seemed to imply, previous-wave figures do not necessarily disappear with the next new full wave. This happened in Cybertron, especially in larger classes, because of the number of molds available and to avoid oversaturation (and that still didn't stop CD Red Alert!).
