To me, its seems like Hasbro losing the battle with 3rd parties....

Igear: Ironhide & Ratchet are replacing Hasbro versions

Fansproject: insecticons vs hasbro insecticons: FP Insecticons

    TFC: Hercules

Do you think there will be a day where your entire shelf will be replace by 3rd party figures?

Come now. As nice as some of the third party stuff is, Hasbro will never lose the competition.

*looks at his Universe 2.0 Ratchet, Generations Warpath, and ROTF Bludgeon*

...nah, I don't think so to be honest. Simply because 3rd parties are making stuff that appeals more to the ones who want a more G1 look to their classics doesn't mean Hasbro is loosing. I think my Universe Ratchet looks great, myself, and I will not be replacing him.

You do have a good point about the G1 love....I wonder if 3rd party are afraid to take on BeastWars figures....

No...No, I don't think so, OP. I can buy Hasbro classics for $12. While they may not make all the stuff we want, they do make a lot of it, and it is very affordable. They'll never lose us, because for as much neat stuff as the third party companies make, Hasbro makes much more, for much less.

No, not really. 3rd parties are just making what Hasbro probably won't make, for the most part. And I still prefer having official figures whenever possible.

Rather than replace, I think the 3rd Party products complement the official figures from HASBRO/TT. At least that's true 80% of the time.

This may or may not happen, due to the riduculously high price of iGear's Ironhide & Ratchet.

What Hasbro Insecticons? G1 Reissues don't count...

Again, Hasbro never made Classics Constructicons - Energon repaint looks awful and doesn't match the classic look in the least bit.

Highly unlikely, unless 3rd parties somehow manage to issue close to 50 figures before long (and I win the lottery).

The post above says it all.

3rd Parties are doing a great job of creating toys to fill in the gaps in what hasbro have not produced. In terms of making toys that replace classics? The only one to attempt that really so far is Igear with Ironhode and Ratchet, but the cost of them and size issues mean that they are not in direct competition.

If someone made a new version for example of Smokescreen. Then you could say they were replacing them.

    But they arn't.

The big question is will hasbro do insecticons, constructicons etc now? Or is it they would never have done them?

I agree. Some great add ons.

Really just a matter of time till people attempt more classic characters that hasbro has done.

If that ever happens Hasbro will finally sue them.

    It will never happen....

Hasbro targets KIDS, who are like 90% of the market. 3rd Party covers the remaining 10%, us. And even then, only half of us can afford it, and are still buying Hasbro products anyway. As much as Hasbro doesn't like the 3rd parties stealing their IP's, they aren't going to ever make a MAJOR impact on Hasbro.

Thank God for that. I don't care for the 3rd party stuff myself.

I own 2 3rd party items the blue led gun kit for my ROTF leader Prime and soon to be bought add-on kit for my MP movie SS. Mostly all of my stuff is misb so buying 3rd party items doesn't really work for me. With that said I have a few loose movie items that I would love to buy stuff for if the 3rd party guys wanted a challange. A nice trailer with weapons to connect to my ROTF leader prime would be awesome.

Hasbro can make more figures more cheaply than third party companies can ever hope to. Remember last fall? We got a massive crush of like 10 new Classics(/RTS) deluxes and some voyagers. Sure it's been slow since then, but Hasbro's been focusing on the movie line instead. 3rd parties in total put out in a year as many figures as Hasbro can drop in a third of the time, and sell them for a fraction of the cost.

If a run of 500-2500 third party was meant to satisfy 10% of the market then I think we'd be in trouble. I'd say that we make up a way smaller faction than that and that and I think that half of us is an over estimate as well.

Hasbro will have a hard time taking any court or law enforcement action in China, where the overwhelming majority of third party companies are located. Sorry, I seriously doubt the HasTak hammer will ever fall on third parties, as much as some folks may hope or fear it might.

third parties aren't replacing classics, they are assisting in a way

look, i am a fan of victory, one of my favorite parts of the show involved 3 characters:black shadow, Greatshot, and Blue Bacchus

okay, hasbro is giving us Black Shadow. now, the chances of them making greatshot are almost impossible, this is where 3rd parties are gonna help, mastermind creations is making greatshot

i now just need a blue bacchus to get those 3 back together

3rd parties work best when they make things that hasbro under normal circumstances can not make in an economically phesible way

It has gotten past the point of filling in gaps, third parties are full on producing the Classics line now.
