Prowl has a new lightbar! I just hope he doesn't have that weird paint like on the Hasbro one.
Why do SS and Prowl have chrome spoilers?
Nobody really knows...
I wished they just stick to chroming the rims instead.
G1 Sunstreaker had a chrome spoiler, so it actually makes sense for his Henkei version to have one, too. Prowl, like Sideswipe and Bluestreak, is just a victim of Takara Tomy's random chrome approach to this line.
And they can't chrome the rims - the wheels are a single piece of plastic, if you chrome the rims you chrome the tire, too.
Can anyone make out Sunstreaker's license plate? It seems to say "82" instead of "84" (Diaclone reference?).
Edit: Nevermind that, see FFN's post.
Sunstreaker looks better imo. The yellow color is consistent, unlike the universe version.
The Universe Sunstreaker they used for comparison appears to be a test shot, so it indeed says '82' instead of 84.
The hand-painted prototype Hasbro used for its packaging/publicity pictures also has 82 instead of 84.
Well in the UK the Universe Deluxes are $26 so I'll buy these at almost no extra cost
As with most of the Japanese classics, the differences are minimal. But hey, if you wanna blow your money on a few extra paint apps go ahead.
Some of them have drastic differences but I admit these have the least difference but hey I'm gunna spend 2 extra quid
I actually don't like the chrome spoiler on Sunstreaker at all, even if it is more accurate to he G1 toy. It just looks off. Prowl's launchers on the other hand are an example of chrome done right in the Henkei line for once. The random chrome on Prowl's spoiler on the other hand looks garish and out of place, which is typical for the line. I just don't understand Taktomy's chrome fetish.
Mine were $20 each. You need to learn to shop around.
Actually they can chrome just the rims... Mattel does it all the time with Hot wheels, and Hasbro did it with G1 & G2 toys
nice, but I'll save $50 and keep my US versions.
Hotwheels, Matchbox, and a slew of other toy car lines have been doing it for years. Decades, in fact. Let's not forget Cybertron Wingsaber with his chrome red Autobot symbol, with no other part of that piece being chromed.
I can honestly say I preffer the Hasbro version of Prowl. Henkei Sunstreaker looks a lot better, though.
I was going to get these but after seeing the pictures I'm going to stick with the Hasbro versions. Not digging the chrome spoilers on either one. I also don't like prowls new light bar.
I like that Sunstreakers painted roof matches the plastic better. But these are an easy pass for me.
The different (Japanese) light bar is cool. But they are pass for me. The chrome in random places do not work for me. I do not want to shell an extra $15 just for chrome weapons on either figure.
