I like the paint apps better now
I would have chosen black for Megatron's barrel, but white works very well, too.
dont blame us if cops start shooting at you!
Yeah, I've thought about that too, better learn how to turn Megs into bot mode super fast
What color paint did you use on Megatron's barrel? It matches up perfectly with the off-white tones.
Testor's enamel paint that I bought at WalMart, still not a perfect match, but the lighting make it seem that way more.
The wing part is made of clear green plastic and spray painted white on the outside, so to make the green another color I'd have to strip the paint, dye the clear plastic to another color (Red?) and then re paint the outer part again, any tutorial on how to dye the plastic? At that size?
There's a tutorial in the kitbashing thread, but I think you can only dye to a darker color.
I could be wrong here, but I don't know if you can get red from green.
That Prime is one excellent toy. Nice touch ups.
small touch ups make all the difference and these awsome figures look better then before
Is there any real reason to keep that part translucent? What about just repainting the wings as silver or white?
Nice! Those look great!
Hey - when I get mine, I'm making the wings silver.
Not to mention the body.
G1 Megatron colors FTW! (Though I'm still not sure what I'll do with his lower torso details - if it'll be a sticker or paint apps. It comes down to cost.)
I'm painting the wings silver on both sides, BUT I'm masking off the same parts that are transparent and painting those with a tranluscent red. I've never been successful at dying a HARD clear plastic. The green is easily light enough in shade to be turned red with the red clear paint however.
Yes, General, you're correct on the dying. Also, if you have a piece that is yellow, dying it blue will make the final piece green. If I'm wrong, someone constructively correct me as I've never dyed before; I've just read about it and talked to others who have.
I thought I did? you can change colors, but you can't go lighter. blue + red will end up purple, blue + yellow will end up green, etc... but it'll not be bright, unless the original color and the dye colors are bright, and even then it'll still at least be a little darker. BUT as I said before, I've never gotten hard translucent plastic to take. I've dyed lots of "regular" plastics, like LOCs and so forth, but when I did Scrapmetal, I was able to dye everything I wanted to except for his cockpit, eyes, and sword.
Redline, let me know how it goes with the Transparency red paint, I might take that route if it works.
More close up on the Classic Prime paint apps, also few shots of my new display
