Hi there. Just picked up Universe Grimlock, but practically right out of the box one of his arms (in t-rex mode) came off. It may not have actually been fully connected in the first place. I try to pop it back in with no luck. I feel like I'm pressing pretty hard, but it still won't pop in. Anyone else had this issue? Thanks!

I have Classics Grimlock right here on my desk, and his dino arms are fine.

You must have a defective one, the dino arms should pop back in pretty easily

i feel ya. i don't have Grimlock, but i spent about 3 hours today with a fresh, out of the box Silverstreak *TFU* that fell apart on me.
i was afraid i would break him, but got him reassembled.

just don't admit defeat and you should be able to fix him.

    Classics Grimlock? or Universe Dinobot?

(edit: never mind, I'll assume classics grimlock)

but damn that sucks, I never had the problem. Did you get it off of ebay?

I would say return him but Classics Grimlock has been sold out for 2 years now I think. Never had an issue with mine. Just try and snaping it back on it should work.

Its classics grimlock. I bought him off someone here. It was MISB, or at least appeared to be. I was just curious whether it was a common defect. Maybe I just need to push harder, but i'm afraid I'll break it.

i dunno about this issue, but im just gonna say use a bit more force.. TFs arent as fragile as u would think.. push with a lot of force, until it goes in :D  its kinda broken as it is, isnt it? might as well break it trying to fix it, if that makes sense :lol

Which bit of the joint is it? Classics Grimlock has all those hinge-y bits to his shoulder as part of his transformation. If it's the actual bit that goes into his shoulder block for the swivel in robot mode then I'd assume you could just undo the screws on that to open it and place the joint back in without having to force anything.

I accept no responsibility if that makes the problem worse though. :p

Here are some pics. If you can see in the second picture, the ball doesn't seem to fit into the socket as well on his left arm (right arm on picture) as the other arm. I have pushed as hard as I can, and it won't lock into place. It stays in well enough for display purposes though, so its not a really big deal. Just would be nice for it to stay in permanently.

A few coats of super glue around the ball should remedy this problem. I would try that first.

actually, the problem is the socket. Its too small to hold the ball joint. Try sanding down the socket a bit.

I'd try holding the arm under running hot water to make it slightly pliable, and then try pressing the arm back in. I've had great luck with this method, as well as one or two failures.

Try the hot water method first. That sounds the easiest. If that doesn't work then try the sanding. If you mess that up and make the socket too big then do the super glue fix Molini suggested. See.... everyone wins!

Well, I gave the hot water method a try and it fits in better than it did before. But i still think it will come out if I move it around very much. Looks like I got it so hot that it took off some of the black paint inside the socket. :)

Wait, there's paint in the socket? That's your problem. Get that paint out of there and you should be set.
