This looks like a really nice job - and I reckon quite a lot of people are clamouring for something like this as an official release!
I can't really fault the paintjob, as it all looks pretty neat to me.

I have two minor crits, though:

    a) It probably would have worked out more Grapple-ish if you'd used a slightly more orange colour. I don't know if this was the closest you could have got in spray form (I know colours tend to be limited around my area), but as it is he actually reminds me a lot of Erector in vehicle mode (not that I don't like Erector, or anything :p )

    b) You could probably do with a little more of your secondary colour, or even a third, just to break up the yellow - it looks a little overpowering as is; some extra black, and perhaps more silver, on some of the robot mode parts - perhaps black thighs, and silver abdomen - would add a bit more visual interest, as well as relating a bit more to the character's original look.

Great job as is, though. :thumb

That looks beautiful man, and looks like a hard color to work with.

    It's all smooth

never thinked about erector, color is a mix between g1 toy and cartoon, probably too yellow instead the "melon yellow" reported on spray can :| but the original blue was a pain to cover (primer or not). Originally lower torso should have more black but... well isn't sealed yet so... need a couple of tests with photoshop.

    Nice work!

I agree with Ramrider though... I think you need more of a third colour, even if it's something neutral, like steel grey. The black and yellow just seems a little too binary.

Also, adding some more of those hazard stripes to the robot mode would probably look good too.

That looks nice! Tho I agree with Ramrider, it is rather bright and painting some other areas darker would be an improvment.
Would'nt a G1 head fit on this guy?!

Ah, yes... good thought. Although with the current colour it'd probably be difficult to get them to stand out - if it was switched out for a darker colour, I agree it'd kick tailpipe.

Y'know, I don't think that'd be necessary. I reckon this head, with the little 'ear' jobbies, is actually a pretty good rendition of an updated Grapple - it doesn't need to be an exact copy of the original.

i don't know why, but that color to me makes the entire thing look like those old, big, metal trucks they used to make before they really worried about child safety issues

I have not seen a lot of repaints of this mold, but it works very well. Great job on the black striping.

Omigod! I only just now noticed that you removed the cab and crane turret, and stuck them on his back in robot mode!

That's an interesting approach. Have you actually attached them yet, or is it digibashed? I'm curious how you went about it.

No digibash at all, only a small flat and adesive magnet on cab and a peg (from a lego toy) for the crane
