That was pretty awesome.
That's awesome. Loved the Tetris and Breakout destruction.
That just improved my morning.
The only depressing thing about it is that I wrote a story back in 01 that mixed video game characters with the concept of the movie Monster's Inc, where after you turned off your Mario game, the "actor" pixel character who played Mario would go home and have his own life. There's a huge battle at the end, when the main character revolts against the rules of the Players, and battle ensues, with with Combat Tanks, The Bar from Breakout (breaking down the wall to the city), and Tetris Blocks (which purposefully miss LINES to collapse buildings) lay siege to their town. The main character meets the Alpha-Omega of their world, and he's the Block from Pong (ala the monolith from 2001). So it's awesome to see the way I imagined it, but depressing because another idea went down the drain, lol.
The very definition of 'bittersweet'.
Funny, I didn't hear and reports on this on the news.
I'm gonna ask if we can watch that in class today, if we have free time.
Yeah no shit. I had the script finished and two of the voice actors had completed their lines, but I didn't know any 3D animators at the time to do the 3D scenes. The story mixed it all, 2D characters lived with 3D characters, and of course, the 2Ds were looked down on, and even the non-textured 3Ds were looked down on by the Normal Maps. They had an entire social structure. The only rule punishable by death was, "You never walk out on your game." And the main character does.
So, basically you combined Monsters Inc., Tron, and Reboot?
New york gets to have all the fun.
Yup. The story was a little darker and satiricial though. I have this Yellow hot woman walk by, and the character asks about her, and it's Miss Pacman after her serious makeover, because she couldn't stand being a 2D. The slums of the city still look like Atari games (The Sun is even a square), but as soon as you crossed into up town, highres textured buildings littered the landscape and the sun sported a lens flare.
Looks like the Nintendians are invading again. Quick, someone find Fry and a 2 liter of Shasta!
Don't forget some Tom Sawyer.
That was awesome. I think my favorite part was the way the Tetris pieces destroyed the buildings.
And the Rush mix tape!
Loved the tetris bit..
drop down, change direction, and increase speed!
Great stuff and a nice beat.
That was actually pretty cool.
