To anyone who owns the '77 Camaro movie Bumblebee, I have a question. The first time I transformed him, I pushed the button just like the instructions said. However, now the hood of the car is floppy and won't stay in place. I believe it's spring-loaded. How do I get the hood to stay in place?

    Thanks

I do believe once broken you can't fix it...

    Sorry.

I could be wrong though, I remember this as a common problem back when it was first out (though that was from people transforming him wrong *shrug*).

I suppose I could always just rubberband it, but if there's a more permanent solution out there I'd like to try it.

    yep,defective 'bee.no answer i ever found.
i'll crap myself if anyone ever finds an answer.
most of the threads about this just end up recommending not buying him at all.
on that note, the concept/'09 camaro figure is damn good.

Oh yes, I own two. However I saw classic 'Bee on the pegs and thought to myself "I could get him to reenact the first part of the movie, and everyone seems to hate him, he can't be that bad, can he?"
I should listen to my fellow board members next time.

For now, he's being held together using the very packaging he came in. Transforming to bot mode now involves removing my Junkbuild Apparatus. It's a shame really, all of the other movie cast figures I bought played well with little to no problems, including Bumblebee's second form. It's hard to believe these are meant for kids.

Have you tried holding the button in whilst converting back to alt mode?

I dunno - I don't know what the trick is. Mine is fine and it was from the Wal-Mart two-pack.

Yeah, I tried it- didn't work. Does the WM 2-pack have any re-tooling from the previous release?

It's not defective, sometimes the button doesn't click back up sometimes. Also, the head must be faceing backwards.

mine is fine, like slipit lip said, sometimes the button doesn't go back all the way up to where it will lock the front end. You have to tap at the front end or pull it up all the way. Works for mine.

First 'bee I bought, I didn't know about the button and broke the hood latch to make him floppy just like that. Fortunately, I hadn't even left the store yet, so I returned him for a different Deluxe and bought him again two weeks later, this time being much more careful transforming him.

My opinion, like others', is that he's broken for good. Fortunately you can still get a '78 Camaro Bumblebee in the Target 2-pack.

(Kinda nice to know this should improve the resale value of my Bumblebee, though.)

It is a defect, I have two. My first one I bought on June 2 when the figures came out. That one has a hair trigger hood, it does go into place but not very securely. The other one I bought in August and the hood locks in super tight. Many of the initial shipment have this problem.

There were some posts awhile back with photos showing the version prone to breaking, maybe check those out. And like Split Lip said, even the non-defective version can be tricky to click back in sometimes.

    Also love the pic :thumb

TUrn him over and try using the tip of a screwdriver to move the tab forwards while you hold the hood in place. Works for me every time.

Could you please give me an example and show me where to push the screwdriver?
