Huh, strange that there are no threads about this. Shame too, because while it looks to be completely different from the original, it is managing to look fairly visually interesting. Almost looks like a Del Toro movie as well, especially with the armor that the Gods have!

Stars Sam Worthington as Perseus, Liam Neeson as Zeus and a few others. Directed by the same guy who did Incredible Hulk, and it's being written by the writer of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This is what the director said in an interview in july of last year, on the style and how he got the job:

Here are some of the promo pics:

Expecting the trailer to pop up soon, but until then there's this set video:

In before the "OMG Hollywood iz out of ideas and can't come up with original" comments.

I can't wait for this, the original is one of my favorites.

Well, Liam Neeson certainly looks the part of Zeus. Badass beard and golden armour? Check. It's either that, or a badass beard, toga and thunderbolt combination. And I think the armour looks less ridiculous on the big screen.

I'll check out the trailer when it pops up. Original was pretty cool, if this is more of a reimagining than a remake, then it could be fairly awesome.

I don't see how people can complain about this being a remake since it's using the myth as its source material, just like the Harryhausen film did. Oh well, people just like to complain I suppose.

I'm looking forward to this, except for the lead. I'm not a big Sam Worthington fan. Here's hoping he'll pleasantly surprise me next year.

Given how Disney invented Pain and Panic, I very much doubt it.

Huh. If this is successful I assume the supposed God of War film adaption will get sped up a bit.

I approve most heartily of everything this film is setting out to be. A grand sword and sandle epic that combines the adventurous attitude and never say die kind of hero from yesteryear and the modern special effects technoogy to bring it all the glorious life.

Looks fine to me, I look forward with great anticipation. TBH, its one of the few films that would benefit from a remake or retelling.

I wonder if they're going to keep Harryhausen's Medusa design. I don't think they've shown more than her head, yet. He's always admitted to stealing the half snake design from Indian mythology.
