That explains a lot right there! If he was having dinner with someone who actually cared to use factual numbers and not fudged truth to get what they wanted...

To me, it boils down to:

when news came WAY back about the green light on a TF movie I was f**kin doing the RIVER DANCE, I swear! When I heard Bay was doing it I was like "Cool, he has some good movies, he likes to go big, not a bad choice! Then I saw the designs, I didn't mind them. Some, to me, were bad ass, some (YOU Starsrceam!) I didn't...

Then I saw the film, thought it was damned good! 1, because a Transformers live action film was actually made! And 2, because the Transformers looked AMAZING on film!

Now the movie is making shit loads of money, and the sequal WILL come, its a FACT! The bar is set and (should... I hope) only go up!

Thats ALL that matters!

 

Bay seems to act like a child. Its not very cool... I mean, you may have read already in another post that he quit 4 times when making Pearl Harbour.

His wanting the movie to be on every format actually made sense. Now he's just spouting format talking points (the reported upcoming player pricing) and ignorance. 300 looks just as awesome on Blu Ray, and outsold HD-DVD by quite a margin.

 

Very good points. I like your analysis (sp?) of the movie and really hope TPTB who work on the sequel put that kind of thought process when developing it.

Man, I hate when people say it's "the universe" what's at stake. The universe is too big. Say the galaxy or something more limited ... but universe? Pfffsshh. Every time A/E/C Megatron rambled about conquering the universe I replied "yeah right".

The point behind that comment, is that the bluray people he had dinner with, probably convinced him bluray is better.

When in all actuallity for movies, they are equal quality.
That's been the main issue in this format war, the sheer amount of disinformation from loyalists to either camp to get what they want, or express how 'right' they are.

Still gives me a wee bit of hope that he will not be back since he said might instead of will. I was so happy when I heard he was not going to be back that I was ready to throw a party, hearing that he might be back was about enough to make me throw in the towel. But then I remembered that Transformers Animated has been promised to be nothing like the movie.

Plus maybe I'm just weird but I found it funny as hell that he was all upset about 3 Blu-ray owners getting screwed over but he didn't give a damn about Decepticon fans when he was making this movie.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Bay will not be back because with his ego the only hope of any changes for part two is a change in the directors chair.
