I will vouch for the fresh air outside approach. I also collect MOTUC and I had a Moss Man figure. I tried baking soda, charcoal, Febreeze and all sorts of deodorizers. I left him outside for a windy day and he is stink free now. I'd presume it would do the same to cigarette smells.

I grew up in a smoker's home, though never smoked myself. My wife said for the first few weeks after I left, my clothes still smelled like smoke but it went away with time, laundry and fresh air.

Make sure the box is opened and seal it up in a large zip-lock bag with a box of baking soda.

Just out of curiosity which target master box is it?

A coat of clear or varnish will fix that up.

That's BS. Smell isn't some infinite supernatural thing. Eventually the smelly particles will all be gone one way or another.

Apparently someone never watched the Mythbusters episode where they failed to get the smell of death from the car

Cigarette smell lasts for a good long time. I once bought a transformer from a smoker. No amount of soaking ever 100% got the damn smell out of the thing. You can weaken it a lot, but remove it entirely? No. At least not in any reasonable time frame.

I don't quite know what this means because I didn't see this, but I had a G1 Megs that came from a smoking environment that reeked. The smell did eventually go away...but the tar stains didn't all clean off completely, unfortunately. Also, houses that smokers lived and smoked in will eventually not smell like smokers lived there as well.

It's not a quick process...that is true. You can improve it in the short term, but it takes a good few months or better before it goes away entirely.

Try Tri sodium phosphate. It's sold in the painting aisle at stores like Home Depot, and is used to help remove cigarette residue from painted walls.Basically, if you just use detergant, most of the time the residue will redeposit, and the smell comes back. But, with the TSP, that bonds to the residue, and that makes it easier to remove.

I used to smoke inside, and my Transformers used to smell like cigarette smoke but after a couple of years smoking outside, then eventually quitting, the smell went away with some very easy cleaning. Get some wood cleaner and febreeze, get the shelf some air, it should be fine.

I got a transformers off of eBay once and it smelled like cigarette smoke. I did a bunch of google searches on how to deal with and the best recommendation was to wrap the item in newspaper. The carbon in the ink helps neutralize the ordor. I changed the newspaper every few days until the odor went away.

Just get 5 dogs and keep their fur wet most of the time. You won't smell your cabinet ever again

The smell would be in the wood grain the only thing I can think of is use an odor killing primer like for pet stains and odors.
