    Whoops, I mean 'ARNHIDE!!!

This one took me a while, not because of the paint, but because of the head. I had originally planned on using an Alternator Skids head, but when it finally arrived to me, it was way too small, which was a bummer because, expression not withstanding, its a great head for old Ironhide. So i put the project aside for a little bit, not knowing what to do. Unfortunately for me, procrastination is a rich mans game, and I am not a rich man. Needed to get this guy done and up on ebay, so i decided to grind down Infernos helmet and sculpt Ironhides around it, also did a little resculpting on his face.

Don't ask me what his alt mode is supposed to be, maybe a maintenance truck of some sort. I didn't think a water cannon or ladder or anything like that would be appropriate, so I put a handle on Onslaughts shield, and now it forms a kind of roof in alt mode and a shield for him in robot mode.

Dirtied him up alot, and here we go. Enjoy.

This mold actually fits him pretty well. The Onslaught shield is a nice touch.

This bash has been done so many times, but it's always just some random reason Ironhide became a Fire Truck. But you, wow, you made that vehicle look nothing like a Fire Truck, the shield/roof works really well. I actually really like this bash. The head is also great, and the expression is perfect for a grumpy old 'Arnhide. It's amazing how the small mods make this figure so awesome. Nice job. :)

thanks guys. It was a toss up between doing Ironhide and Ratchet. Looking at him now, I kind of wish I had done Ratchet, as the contrast between the before and after would be quite a bit starker.

@Treadshot: Really? I didn't know this had ever been done before. Damn you search being off-line

the only thing i could change about this.. is the split in the windsheild. ironhide had a full one piece windshield. just sand it, or paint it black and it would look awesome.

but still an AMAZING custom. i loove the head

    :lol  Awww, c'mon! I wasn't gonna say a word!

Looks great. Onslaught's shield made this perfect in my book. Nice-ness!

The use of Onslaught's shield as a roof is a genius idea.

    Looks cool man!

I had started on making an ironhide and ratchet out of these molds awhile back when toys R us had a buy one and get the secound at half price but ended up thinking they where too small for my collection(mostly MPs and Alts) but your Ironhide makes me wish i would have finished them up and might finish up ironhide now and sell him on the bay. Again great job dude!

DAMN this is a lovely idea, if the Igear bots weren't coming, I'd be all over one of these!

The shield-roof-to-utility truck is brilliant. I think you SHOULD do a Ratchet, that thing would make a VERY convincing Ambulance, and it would be stunning in a clean white scheme!

    Beautiful beautiful work!

hey thanks everyone, I appreciate all the comments. Quite the tone of surprise in most of them.

Holy shit though, I just looked at the igear Ironhide and Ratchet for the first time, and those are amazing. Really no point in making a Ratchet now, from a creative or financial standpoint.

How did I not realize this mold would work so well for Ironhide? The scale, not to mention barrel chest -- pretty much perfect!
