They ain't particularly great, but they do exist....
I redid my shelf layout this weekend! I still need to fine tune the posing of all the figures, but the general idea is there:
Original '84 Autobots:
Original '84 Decepticons:
"Season 1.5" (a term I just made up! haha) Autobots:
Season "1.5" Decepticons:
Season 2 Autobots:
Season 2 Decepticons :
Season 2 "Cybertronian" Autobots:
'86 Movie Autobots:
'86 Movie Villains:
Season 3 Autobots (part of the reason I rearranged everything was to make room for MMC Sky Lynx! ):
Season 3 Decepticons:
Season 4 Autobots:
Season 4 Decepticons (WJ Weirdwolf will be here this week, and I really need to redo how the Targetmaster guys are set up ):
Here's the sketch I did to plan everything out:
Looks like I'll need to change some things if I ever get a big Scorponok figure! LOL
Looking good. More epic than ever man!
No guesses for which is my fav display in your collection.
Alright lads, lunch has arrived. Get it while it's fresh and squirming .
Some of my favorite Legends, Rumble and Frenzy.
Quit teasing me with unobtanium!!!
Looked out of curiosity the other day.100++ aud on ebay for this set.
I always preferred the name Skyfire. Jetfire seemed kinda redundant to me, but Skyfire had some gravitas to it, Fire in the Sky. T30 Skyfire definitely has that same gravitas.
I have the Takara Legends version, only Takara version of any toy I have. This iteration has a few more subtle paint apps and I preferred the deep red plastic finish for his guns and thruster pack. The red chrome on the US release seemed too gaudy to me and not suitable for the character. Skyfire doesn’t need chrome to shine, he does that well enough on his own. Sorely underused in the cartoon, I thought his previous history with Starscream was a cool aspect that could’ve been expanded on in later stories. I thought it was interesting that he was a scientist too, but they never really played up that part of his character either. His toy iterations always seemed to get more focus than the actual character. I’m sure there’s more info provided by the Marvel comics, which I didn’t have much exposure to growing up, and I don’t remember that much development for him in the IDW universe. Skyfire is a great character. At the very least we got a great toy.
A wonderful homage to his G1 cartoon counterpart, this version of Skyfire is the best so far. I never had the G1 toy, which I did think was cool, but we all know that was a Robotech Valkyrie. Nowhere near the classic design. The first Classics release for the modern updated version was a cool toy. I did have that one. The jet mode was really close, but it still didn’t have Skyfire’s true essence which mostly comes thru in his bot mode. And don’t get me started on the Bayverse Jetfire, a terrible representation of the classic Skyfire character. When I saw that they were doing another release of Skyfire and looked at the pictures of the T30 version, I knew this was the one.
The only way to get even closer would be to get the 3rd party Kronos or Phoenix, but I’m not too keen on 3rd party figures. Way too expensive for my taste. This iteration of Skyfire is just right for me. Even in jet mode.
I actually like that they went with a more realistic design for his jet mode. Very Top Gun! And it still looks great with the thruster pack, but you do have the option of taking that off for even more realism.
Still a great looking jet even if it is the typical jet on top of a robot. Par for the course with these lines, but exceptionally well done in Skyfire’s case......just don’t have him do any barrel rolls to preserve the illusion.
Skyfire was the perfect choice as a Leader Class figure for the Thrilling 30. A wonderful modern update on an underrated classic.
Thanks for that write-up! Seeing this figure when it came out was one of the things that got me into collecting as an adult, so it means a lot to me. My G1 Jetfire was pretty banged up but I still had fond memories of it, so a new version was dangerously tempting. I love how the update manages to evoke both the cartoon and the toy versions of the character. And while you're right about the robot mode hanging off the bottom, it's so compact and streamlined here that I can't be offended by it.
GRAND CONVOY, SUPER MODE, GRAND CROSS!
GRAND CONVOY SUPER MODE!
Overlord Vs. Wreckers
Do they stand a chance?
Awesome, and also, our collections are like 80% the same
This Warpath has been one of my favorite figures but I've always wanted a more G! accurate head.
Found this custom while searching, would anyone on where this head came from?
Not if it's their "Last Stand".
I think this is all of Season 1's Con's. Am I missing any from the show?
I only got Hasbro's version of Skyfire because it was on sale at HTS. But I hated that chrome red, so I rarely even display'em these days.
Slowly but surely taking better posed pics. Today, I submit for your approval, CHUG Bumblebee
"When we first met. I said you'd make a good Decepticon. And you did....but you make a much better Autobot."
"It's time I took control."
Technically wouldn't potp swoop be diaclone as the boue chest is the same deco?
Separate names with a comma.
