True, but I’m focusing on “Car Robo” based figures/characters. Although it couldn’t hurt to expand on that.

For the Car Robos I actually just ordered a Universe Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, and Generations Red Alert to part-swap into Spin Out, Tigertrack and Cordon - although Cordon is going to need some painting. I just need to find an extra Sunstreaker head.

Lovely pic. Is that Pyro a custom or an upgrade kit?
Also, who is your stand in for Rotorstorm?

Yes, a custom made by the one and only Klejpull customs, I really recommend this guy.

My stand in for rotorstorm is actually vortex from one of those Bruticus sets :)

I’ve made several post in the past about how badly we need a legends cliffjumper, so finally caved and bought this as a placeholder until the day hopefully hasbro will make it proper in the future. This freed up some much needed room by removing classics deluxe cliffjumper to allow the dinobots some much needed space

Who doesn’t love a good villain? Time to show the Decepticons a little favor. Let’s start with one of the most notorious ones.
    B5F1E4AE-746C-4F76-86F7-3B05B5FBA9C0.jpeg
Bad ol’ Starscream! Easily one of the best Decepticons of all time. And he lived up to the title. One of the sneakiest Decepticons, Starscream was always trying to find a way to become their leader thru subterfuge or null-blasting Megatron in the back. With his sniveling, weasely personality he was always looking for an angle to wrest power and didn’t care who’s Energon cubes he stepped on to get it. Never one to waste an advantage, that’s eventually how Starscream was able to be crowned leader, for all of 10 seconds at least.

The Classics version of this leader of the Seekers was the most versatile iteration of Starscream ever offered at mass retail at the time. And it was an awesome mold. One of the most reused, possibly overused, molds of the Generations early lines. But at least they started with the most memorable character. The only thing I have a slight issue with is the size of the missiles. I wish they either would’ve made them a shorter and more slender projectile or just one solid null ray. It might have made him a little less cumbersome for posing. It’s a minor quibble though, still an excellent Starscream.

    C9F9AD70-BEDC-4F79-8287-37AB4BC58808.jpeg
Transformation to jet mode was a unique update for the Seekers too. It was fun and not overly complicated. Also unlike the G1 versions, aside from the null rays, there was no parts-forming involved, which I know is a thing for many collectors.
    BB6CDB99-BA0E-4025-B75C-640A567A02E0.jpeg
As for the jet itself, a really excellent looking aircraft. Still based on the F-15 Eagle, it really nailed the G1 aesthetic. My copy unfortunately has some slight battle damage. One of the tips on the tail fin broke off, not major but still noticeable. Oh well.

Starscream was one of those ‘Cons you just didn’t know whether to root for or just wait for Megatron to fusion blast him thru his cockpit. I gotta say it was kinda satisfying to see Galvatron disrupt his coronation, but then it was great to see Starscream’s ghost come back later. Even in death he was always up to the same old tricks.

I could handle that! I hope Mechanic Studio / MechFansToys does a Gears and Swerve. To me, those are now the weak links in the minibots.

    .......

    Yeah....................but.....

"Skyfire" to me suggests some hippy-dippy nobody.

"Jetfire" says "I'm a scientist bitch....AND I'm going to kick your ass"
All the brains and the brawn.

Not that Starscream isn’t a great character, but probably my favorite Seeker was the Bot in Blue, Thundercracker.
    B40491C4-EC26-4E19-8A3E-16254EA61F84.jpeg
Sometimes his sympathies would waver, but never one to back down from a fight, Thundercracker was a Decepticon who sometimes couldn’t be bothered to be a ‘Con. He was one of few bad guys from any cartoon/comic/toyline I was into at the time that displayed some ambiguity in his personality. This quality wasn’t expanded on that much in any of the media, but it was still present which for some reason resonated with me. Thundercracker had a depth of character that was rarely seen in Transformers. One of the bad guys that had good guy tendencies and struggled with the dichotomy of good and evil, a very human trait which is why I think he displayed sympathy for the humans sometimes, despite not being a big fan of Earth. Thundercracker just wanted to go home to Cybertron and leave Earth alone. He didn’t think the humans deserved to be caught in the mix. Aside from all that though.......

Thundercracker was one great looking jet. Still modeled on the F-15 Eagle like Screamer, something about Thundercracker’s deep blue just seemed more uniform and even majestic. Blue can be a tricky color to pull off depending on the tone and shade, but damn it looks good on this toy. Done well, blue is one of my favorite colors. Mixed with the personality of Thundercracker, makes him my favorite Seeker.

In my opinion, all of these elements combined made Thundercracker a very imposing figure and character. He had a regal quality to him, but in a tired king, old soul kinda way.
    E05E2F44-9F78-41FF-BDCF-AD900EDECC0E.jpeg
Definitely able to hold his own in a fight, Thundercracker was, at the end of the day, a loyal soldier. He didn’t always agree with Starscream or Skywarp’s ideas or methods, but if it was in line with Megatron’s plan he’d tolerate it. This iteration of the toy I think is a wonderful representation of the character. Just like Thundercracker’s personality, the look is just so richly layered.
    70F91B42-F741-410A-9E8B-FA835478513B.jpeg
Thundercracker was a bad guy who couldn’t decide if he wanted to stay that way. This was just one example of why I love Transformers so much. They’re not just thoughtless programmable automatons. They actually had thoughts and feelings and struggled with the stresses of war and survival, just like us. They just so happened to be cool robots that could change forms at will. Icing on the cake, but it’s that depth of character that always kept me engaged with these toys and cartoon. And Thundercracker may not have a been huge fan of the humans, but I think he was one of the more ‘human’ Transformers.

Well said. There's many a reason that Transformers have stuck in my memory so vividly, while other childhood favourites have receded a bit more to the background, but the characterisation is definitely the main reason. The Decepticon that wasn't wholly sold on the ideology is a great wee character riff.

3 bad boys in the mail!!! Am I the only one who buy online and actually enjoy the waiting? Kind of a fun thing to have your coffee in the morning and track your package while watching weather forecasts and stuff. :p
