http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22963279-2,00.html ROFL. Long past his use by date C-level actor wants more money!
I'm sure I red an interview with him in Empire that asked what he thught of th facts going around and he said they were pretty funny...
Wait. pretty much everyone here was saying these quotes about a year ago.. talk about flip-floppin. I was just at that norris site, and found this qoute to be pretty damn funny. The line in Star Wars, "May the force be with you.", was originally "May Chuck Norris be with you.", but Chuck Norris threatened to sue.
If he finds some of them morally repugnant and the title misleading, he's got every right to object to his name being used. --Moony
Who the heck would buy a book of them when you got a whole internet for it? Not to mention Chuck Norris is overrated anyway...
I like his old 80s movies. I still have a few. Plus my mom still loves Walker Texas Ranger. I think hes definitely overrated.
Can I ask what you base this on? I have to admit that I am far from a fan of his but that is one place that I do respect him.
Chuck Norris learned his Tang Soo Do from Grandmaster Jae Shin. I knew a couple folks in that association. Rumor has it after learning TSD from Shin in Korea during the Korean War when he was in the army, he never acknowledged him as his teacher once he returned to the USA. Yet returned to the USA and made a great movie/TV career out of what he learned. If you're a true martial artist, you should at least honor and respect your teacher. Plus, he's not a great fighter. There's a ton og better fighters/martial artist out there. People just like to see high kicks. In a real fight, you got better chance with your fist than high kicks. Besides, he only has one good move: spinning back kick. It works well on japanese and korean styles but not chinese styles.
I don't know everything about his service, but there's no way Chuck Norris ever served in the Korean War. Besides, you've got rumor on one hand, and six championships on the other. How can you say he "sucks as a martial artist?" At a minimum, he's technically proficient--what he does in the movies might be flashy, 'cause it's the movies, but...well, six championships.
OK OK.....Van Dam or Chuck Norris in a fight? who would you put your money on? I'm going with Chuck on this, cause he knew Bruce Lee at least....Thats all I'm basing my opinion on. Also thought Gen.Magnus and General Magnus were the same guy. LOL
Oops, I'm not a history major so mostly I got my history wrong. But he did start his training in South Korea when he was in the military. That's how he started his training with Grandmaster Jae Shin. As for 6 championships, a lot of martial arts in the USA is watered downed, imo. It's very very hard to find traditional training. Plus, there's a bunch of other more efficient systems out there.
So, everyone he went up against in those championships were trained strictly within the US? As was stated, you have rumor. That is nothing to base such a statement off of. Also as was already stated, the moves in movies and on television are just that, moves FOR movies and television. Negative though understandable.
Okay, maybe US martial arts are watered down. I don't know one way or the other--although I'd need more from you than just an opinion to really lock it down. But it was a World Championship--and besides, watered down or not...six (count 'em) championships. I mean, that's a lot of asswhooping, even if it was diluted. I get that you might not like the guy, but I'm getting the vibe you're just not a fan of American martial artists in general. Fine, but I'm really not seeing how you can say he sucks. Yeah, y'all can never change your avatars. Ever. It'd blow my mind.
