My younger brother drove a Chrysler 300, an awesome car. Now he drives a Crossfire, another incredible car.

Whats going to happen to the 300C and Charger since they are built on the E-Class platform?

Dodge and Jeep were also part of the package.

From what I heard, the suspension was based on the E-Class, not the entire platform. Chrysler and Daimler will still work together - Daimler keeps about %20 in this deal.

I have owned several Dodges (made by Chrysler) and they all were the best cars I have ever owned.

I doubt it'll affect them or the Crossfire (old SLK chassis), there'll be a licensing agreement of some sort for the common parts, and they're not current Merc platforms I doubt they'll be terribly put out!

Crossfire is not being made anymore. Weak sales and steep price.

Interesting to me anyway, part of the original aquizition of chrysler by dailmer was chryslers Freightliner heavy truck division.....this sale today mentions nothing of the Freightliners inclusion of the sale. I called over to Corp Freightliner and found out that they were not part of the deal. Surprising since they just removed all of Portland OR's production.

backon topic, I have a 300c as a company car. I had a 06 Camry XLE, which got traded for this 300c. My Camry was everybit the car the 300c is and then some. I am not really impressed with the overall comfort and fit of the 300. The hemi is nice but my camry was almost as quick and it got 29mpg at 80mph on the interstate....
oh well. I think chrysler is in a death spiral....sad too becasue I was looking forward to driving the challenger. I guess I still might try it out? questionable now.

We rented a Cadillac XLR, Chrysler 300, and 2 Dodge Caravans for our wedding this past March.

    Drove all three.

That said, I will never buy them.

I know that you probably realize this already but a Cadillac XLR isn't a Chrysler product. Sad though that Cadillac's attempt at a sportscar rides like a damned Dodge Neon (worst car evarrrr!!!!11) Sorry to hear about the Caravans too - I wouldn't touch those things with a ten foot pole. I have this intense hatred for all things minivan though, so forgive me.

People will probably cut me an new one for this but judging from some of that article's information, it sounds like its time for the major american automakers to ditch the unions. Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like they're costing the manufacturers just a bit too much money.

Wonder if the new owner will bring back the Prowler. Production couldn't meet demand, and dealers were getting huge mark ups for them, but Daimler axed it, because they didn't like the way it looked.

The only cars I'll ever consider getting are GM's and Dodges/Chryslers. Every car that my family has owned has been one of the two. Right now I drive a Trailblazer, my dad a chevy Box Van, and my mom a chevy lumina (van). Before that there was a dodge dakota, silverado, lumina (sedan), and a grand cherokee. And soon there will be a Colorado and SS Trailblazer added to the family. I'll never buy from any other car maufacturer.

Chrysler cars seems like perfect rentals.
I never liked them much, only becasue those crazy moms almost run me over everyday in those Chrysler minivans. They must make them well if they can survive those crazy womens lead feet.

They were a highly innovative company though, I give them that

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...............trailblazer SS 6.0l LS2 good choice...magna charge that bish when it comes

back on the chrysler topic. I agree with Chaos Muffin, they have been very innovative over the years and I REALLY want to want one but every time I get a chrysler as a rental it is so much less of a car than its competitors. The exteriors kick ass, but they need to dump and rehire the powertrain and interior engineering groups.
