You know, I only played a rom of that game half a year ago, and still that themesong sents nostalgic shivers down my spine. Pure gaming magic.
As much as anything new to Chrono Trigger excites me...I'm going to be dissapointed if its just a straight up port. You're effectively limiting the audience to old school players who remember it. Newer players are going to turn their nose up at the outdated graphics and midi sound.
Indeed, and once again, people still, to this day, point fingers at the PSP, claiming that it is the only system with ports. Still, port or not, I want CT with me on the go.
Holy crap... Kinda creepy, but I am at work and have my MP3 set to random play, and right, I mean the moment, I finished reading your quote, the Chrono Trigger song began to play. It's a really nice rendition, with vocals.
I dunno, gamers who have been playing Pokemon on GBA and DS will be used to this style of graphics. And the funny thing is, Chrono still looks better than those games.
i don't see how midi sound is a problem on the ds... plus this game has some of the best video game tunes EVER, as for graphics... they're pretty much as good as it gets for 2d sprite based graphics. they can easily hold their own next to 2d sprite based games of today in my opinion.
The most important thing I learned from Chrono Trigger was that scantily clad prehistoric chicks that run around on all fours like a dog are hot.
