I'm sure many of us are currently devoting time and energy to "chroming" Leader Class Optimus Prime.

With such a realistic truck mode...the lack of chrome/paint was a real kick in the family jewels, so I thought we could all stick together, and see what we came up with in terms of modifying our Leader Prime.

I'm using Duplicolor Automotive Chrome paint. It seems to be working out well, take a look:

Cool. Personally, chrome isn't all that important to me, so I'll be leaving my Leader Prime alone when I get him. Oh yeah, this belongs in the Customs and Kitbashes forum btw.

That's awesome. However, I would think that it would wear off easily, seeing as those are his feet. Or are you intending to keep him in truck mode only? Still, it looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product. Oh, and are you planning on painting the smokestacks too?

Looks good with that paint, the final product should be pretty sweet.

Cool! I think it looks better without the chrome, though.

Looks real nice. As great as leader Prime is, I can't help thinking it would be a much better looking figure with chrome. I'm too chicken to try to paint mine though, I'd probably end up ruining it.

it looks fine now, but it's not gonna hold up when in robot mode. it's gonna scrape off with him standing ontop of it.

Perhaps a nice tough clearcoat is in order to prevent scraping?

    Looks awesome, BTW.

Jup like MegaMoonMan said, I reckon a good clear coating will help prevent scratching.
It looks really good either way!

Clear coat! Even though I can't see it, that sounds like a good idea.

I wish I had the balls to take this thing apart and do it.

I wonder if chrome/silver leaf would do the trick...

I wish people would stop feeding my neurosis and giving me ideas! I'm already doing more to Bumblebee and adding some things to Ratchet and Ironhide. That's enough! I will pretend I never saw this thread. ;)

clear coat over any silver chrome paint will dull it, and if you dont clear coat it, just handling will scuff the finish.
