I got this way back in 2004 and I was unsure what the heck it is? I have compared it to the regular Armanda version, Energon version and my prototype. It is definitely a Hasbro/Takara mold.

Not a fan of chrome, but cool nonetheless.

 

if i had to guess some one disassembled their Unicron and had his chest piece chromed. Possibly after learning he could not afford to have it all chromed.

 

Apparently there are only 2 of the Chromed original Unicron. At some point in 2004, 2 members of Tfans had the two, timusbrew and Galvatron1.

Huh, interesting. Could this be a third? I know that I got it from Hong Kong along with my prototype but I had no idea what I was getting. I even forgot that I had it until a few months ago when I was cleaning out my room for my new daughter and I was comparing it to one of my MISB Armada Unicrons. I noticed the chrome and I was at a loss.

LOL! Just my luck my daughter will not be into TFs but into Barbies! YUCK! BTW I put him in the Armada Unicron box. Like all prototypes, he came well "naked." I thought the box would offer a little more protection than just leaving him out.

That's pretty damn cool! They could've totally released that in the Henkei line.
