I'm looking to make a compilation of X-mass or holiday songs that are appropriate for this time of the year as background/atmosphere music. I've been to a mall yesterday and they played such music on the internal radio, so that picked my interest.

So I'm basicly looking for a list of songs that will be good to play at home at leisure time.

Feel free to fire away, people.

I don't really have anything in terms of your more traditional songs, but I'll recommend this, in particular, the track "Flutter". Not explicit "leisurely Christmas" music, but more like "classy Christmas party" music.

<cracks knuckles, looks through 532 'holiday' songs on iPod>
    Elvis Presley: Blue Christmas
    Otis Redding: White Christmas
Nat King Cole: The Christmas Song. Hootie and the Blowfish did an acceptable cover as well.
Frank Sinatra and Cindy Lauper: Santa Claus is Coming to Town
    Bing Crosby: Silver Bells
    Eartha Kitt: Santa Baby
Emmylou Harris: Christmas Time's A Comin'
Les Brown and His Band of Renown: Nutcracker Suite
    The O.C. Supertones: Heaven's Got a Baby
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band: Little Drummer Boy
Rob Thomas: A New York Christmas
Silent Night, Holy Night: lots of versions, but Reba McIntire does it well.
    Tracy Chapman: O Holy Night

    I love that song!

I hate Christmas but I love Christmas songs. I'd been looking for a really good Christmas compilation album of Blighty Crimbo classics for ages. Still not got that perfect one yet but Now That's What I Call Christmas comes pretty close. Although I think that's just a UK release. Then I just grabbed one of those multi-disc releases with a certain type of Christmas song/music selection on each disc. Useful for if I'm in a Christmas Crooners, Classical, Kids, Party or Carol mood.

Failing that there's always the Chas and Dave Cockney Christmas album. :p

"Where are you Christmas?" by Faith Hill I think? form the Grinch movie. I loved that movie XD excellent song too.
I don't really know any others besides the one that Nsync made a really long time ago with Gary Coleman in the video. That got me into Nsync in '97 or '98 when it was. Being a teeny bopper ;_; the good old days.
