Don't get me wrong..I like the old ones, the originals. I love all the old cartoons and claymation stuff..But..anything trying to make all that was old more modern..Just sucks. There's nothing better than a Charlie Brown christmas. It never gets old. Once a year, you put it on and enjoy. I can listen to Silent Night anytime and it's great...But we ALWAYS ruin these things..

I'm currently listening to, and not by choice--Celine Dion singing christmas songs..And instead of just singing them as they're supposed to be..She's just over doing it to show her vocal range. It RUINS what the song was, and just makes it annoying. And I want to smash that radio.

How is it that we got it so right all those decades ago with holiday stuff, but, anything since then is just..crap? I mean, there are no new tradional seasonal stuff made anymore that will ever keep like those old classics do. I mean, will the Hannah Montana Christmas Special still be playing 30years from now? Or even 10? No. What about Dora? Nope.. Why is that? Why do we fail so badly now at all that, where before..it was just pure magic?

    Shut up Celine..

I agree Sami, why they feel the need to take classic songs and record them with new artists is beyond me. Clearly it is for the dollars, but they really should just sit back and ask themselves, I am making this classic song any better???

When you're at work, and the guy stationed behind you is listening to that music, power button isn't an option, nor is a dvd player..and definitely not the point.

Yeah really. Thankfully I'm not working retail anymore, but when I did we were forced to listen to a 1 hour loop of 'trendy' christmas music. Nothing kills christmas music quicker than hearing Faith Hill's 'Where are you Christmas' 8 times in one shift for 2 and a half months.

Personally, I haven't liked any Christmas songs since I was a kid. Mostly because I live in Florida, and none of them relate to me (I am of 100% southern heritage, so there ain't been a mother's son in the history of my family who ever went sleigh riding, wassling, or decking the halls with boughs of holly). I try to ignore them best I can, and certainly avoid them. Sami, you need an ipod and some good earphones.

Celine Dion is terrible, absolutely terrible. There's a reason she's been relegated to Vegas and corny Christmas specials...

I'd rather listen to some "country-Christmas" crap than that.

Give me "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" any day! I love that song!

Crazy Frog's Jingle Bell song and the ever so awesome Trans-Siberian Orechestra.
Other than that, I hate the traditional Christmas music. No offense to those who love it, but I get tired of hearing it year after year from Halloween to New Years Day. You can't escape it. Same old crap, same old crap revised, same old revised crap revised again. It's everywhere on the radio. Every TV commercial has to have some stupid Christmas jingle that "they" think is cute. Every store you go into has to play the same crap.
I want something new damn it! So this year, my favorite is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They just simply rock! And not only that, but it's the kind of Christmas music that can be heard any time of the year and it'll still rock! :)

when you listen to the same 16 or so songs every day of work like I do, they get one your nerves easily. But I could listen to the Mannheim Steamroller versions of the songs easily, if they played them.

The one thing that is making my ears bleed is at WM where I work, they have one of those music sample side hanger devices. It plays an endless loop of Jewel's Lullabye cd. Dear god does that make my ears bleed.

Yeah that song from Brenda Lee is a classic.

Anyway, I agree with everything what Sami said. I like the classic Christmas songs with Bing Crosby, Brenda Lee, Connie Francis, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Burl Ives, The Ray Coniff Singers, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole and Perry Como.

None of it with celine dion, mariah carey, madonna, etc.
