I think it's hardly news. Even if it's written by a government run newspaper, I wouldn't think that it would represent all the views of the general theater going Chinese public. This is nothing new, considering that the government I believe did not release TDK becaue of Mr. Lao's protrayal (and the other things the above posters mentioned).

The stupid article even mentions the "pros" and "cons" and the movie's current popularity.

No need to add to the whole "controversy" the film is generating.

I been asking myself that of people posting in this thread. Its like some knee-jerk hyper sensitive circle jerk going down just because of the (mostly incorrect) title.

Relax folks, they arn't pulling film prints from theaters and burning them. Just some folks in a city in China with some complaints...not the whole city, or even the whole country. Absolutely ZERO need to add to the fire with some of the crap posted thus far. We are all big boys here, tis not our fight anyway.

Well it's just that with this and everyone in an uproar over the "racial bigotry" of the Twins and the "racism" of Jazz's portrayal in the first movie it seems like people are just overreacting to stupid little things when they should just be enjoying the movie for what it is, entertainment, rather than looking at it as an intentionally disrespectful production meant to insult the Chinese and African-Americans and chihuahuas and Egyptians and middle-aged parents and God knows what other groups offended by whatever minutia they can latch onto in this film.

I'm just getting tired of everyone taking advantage of the "political correctness" bandwagon nowadays, be it over movies or "real life" stuff. Everybody has to make sure that everything they say or do doesn't offend anoyne at all, because if even one person gets upset, next thing you know you're getting a lawsuit against you. This nonsense over ROTF is a fine example of the "PC fad".

 

So, uh, how should I hate for this? I mean, we got so many options here, who really deserves my hate for this topic? Bay? China? The dumb person who wrote the article? Who? WHO? I just don't know where to direct my anger!

Political correctness should not appear in movies. In a movie, anything can happen. It is where we escape into a different reality where alien robots and blow up bridges in China.
