Interesting. So... some want the Shanghai scene pulled from the movie while others want it kept in? That's all I could get from that article.

I wish people would stop being so sensitive. 'It uglifies China' 'The twins are racist' 'The language and sexual humor are offensive'

It's a movie, get over it.

Man, people are way too sensitive. I suppose Americans should be offended too? In the first movie, the city was demolished! That;s insane! Egyptians too. How dare Michael Bay make Egypt look like it's covered in sand?

    Wow. Just...wow.

Do they not realize that they were trying to....you know.....DEFEND the people of China in the movie?

This happened with some other movie too. Something bad happened to a large group of this one race I don't remember and the country/members of the race said "ban this scene or ban the movie". Like the "Pro" section said, every city has shabby sections in it. This was a construction yard and the surrounding area do you think it will be sparkly clean?

That's surprising, and competely unexpected. Though reading the article, I can sort of see their point of view.

Thing is, I don't think the filmmakers were intentionally trying to make any kind of statement about China, I think they just dirtied it up a little to be more atmospheric.

If it really is a big deal, they could probably just leave out the location subtitles.

Bleh. To tell you the truth, the title of this thread is kinda misleading, it's not stating all of China is offended, rather the citizens of Shanghai might be bothered by its representation as shown in the beginning sequence.

IMHO, the author has a point in the end, since it's only showing only a part of the city, just the industrial portion, where I dunno, such areas tend not to be sparkly clean?
Just look at Newark, New Jersey, USA with all the factories and railyards...eco friendly it may not be, but it's a very interesting locale to have a film take place in. Plus, the Autobots and NEST were protecting them from renegade Cons'.

Nevermind about that upscale business district with the freeway running through it that Demolisher plows through. That was still part of China, and it looked nice. But nevermind about all that......
