Heard this yesterday morning on the Rick and Bubba show; really sad. People are stupid.

:resists urge to make a G.W Bush joke:

I wonder if she had tried to calm the chimp before giving it the medication which led to this. Given how the owner was comfortable having him loose around guests, there clearly wasn't a precedent for this attack, but it is still sad.

I read an article on this yesterday. Although it is sad, I laughed because the article sounded like a horror book, of if the movie Foods of the God were turned into a book.

In the lighter side. Oh huh huh huh, "Stoopid Monkey" (Robot Chicken)

Faxon make the joke. I'm curious.

*twitch* Food of the Gods was ORIGINALLY a book, written by HG Wells.

Anyways, kinda sad. Every now and then something happens that shows wild animals are still wild animals, no matter how docile they normally are.

Oh really, as a child of the 80's I only saw part 2 of the movie. I didn't know that it existed (There had to be a part 1, but I thought it was so bad that the movie disappeared) until about 4 years ago on the SCI fi channel.

    That movie was funny.

But I like to paraphase you by saying animals will still have there wild tendencies no matter how domesticated they are. This monkey supposedly used a computer and a toilet.

Apparently all these trained chimps through the years get older and much more difficult to control as they age. They're cute as babies but get big and angry as they continue living. A lot have been abandoned and given to shelters; there's even a large shelter specifically for chimps that were in the movie/tv business. Some animals just can't be domesticated.

I dont want to sound sick.. but is anyone else kind of curious about the woman who's face got torn off? (pictures I mean)

On a serious note.. I feel bad for the chimp and the woman. (not the owner of course >.>)

I was watching the news lastnight and somebody said for years humans have tried to domesticate chimps and it never works. The person also said chimps are very expensive and messy.

The thought of being trapped in a car while a crazed chimpanzee runs around trying to open the doors scares the crap out of me.

The owner of the chimp seemed to be very upset when she tried to get him to stop attacking her friend and ended up calling 911.

Still... like some of you are saying, chimps could never be domesticated.

    Ebay:
    Wild Animals + People = de-evolution.

Saw a clip on O'Reilly tonight of the owner being interviewed and she said the chimp sometimes drove her car.

    WTF?

People are oblivious to what dangers are all around.

Several years ago, we had to fish a man out of a river because he went missing and was late meeting his wife. He was floating down the river in an innertube with hip waders on, and fishing. The fish he caught were on a stringer, in the water, floating behind him.
The man didn't know that there were alligators EVERYWHERE along the river- we showed him adjacent beaver ponds with several 'gator egg nests. The fish were like a dinner bell hanging off of him like that.
(his wife went nuts on him and cussed him out.)

i just don't get the mentality of folks when it comes to these animals. Love means nothing to a tennis player or a wild animal. just leave em alone.

Heard this morning they were talking about Chimp experts saying that they tell people you have to castrate the chimps and remove their teeth when they get over 5 years of age, because they become unstable.

I'm sure doping them up on Xantax isn't helping too much.

Thing is, the chimp had... what... Lymes disease. The owner should have gotten rid of him when he started having health probs, at least give him to somebody who has worked with chimps before, and none of this would have happened.
