Good grief. Just stop it, for God's sake. The makers of below average, pointless and utterly unwarranted remakes should be imprisoned.

Oh, COME ON the first one was fine.

    Jesus Christ.

    EDIT

    WHAT!!!! They are remaking Robocop????

    SACRILEGE!!!

Unless it kicks infinite ass - but I bet it will be crappy with a CG ED-209 and toned down violence to make it PG-13. :mad

That is sad. Robocop is a classic. There's no way a remake could improve on it. There's no way a remake could get away with the violence it had and remain a PG-13 movie (which it will be in order to maximize profits). So terrible. Blah.

You know the more I think about it, perhaps we shouldn't classify tv shows as remakes since that puts Transformers into the remake category.

Funny. I read Variety daily, and I haven't heard of 75% of those movies being remade.

    I call shenanigans.

However, Platinum Dunes is gearing up a Friday 'reboot', Speed Racer is shooting (and not really a remake, IMHO), Robocop is just talk, The Wizard of Oz is a 'reimagining' with the weird S&M designs of McFarlane - I look for this to get scrapped or made for T.V., and Rodriguez claims to be wanting to do a live-action Jetsons, but he's as bad as Tarantino over naming projects and then abandoning them a week later.

Remakes are about the most pointless exercise, especially with horror movies, I can count on my hand out of the hundreds of remakes the ones that weren't completely craptastic.

Yeah, but that's different. The zombies (LOTD not withstanding) aren't the protagonists. While it is crappy that all these other 'living dead' movies come out, they aren't using the actual central characters, like Peter, Roger, Flyboy, or Fran.

Except for the NOTLD remakes, and that's because they f'd up and the movie became public domain.

No, because you still have to have writers to write the script for the remakes.

And the strike is pretty much definite now. 90% of the Federation's voting members voted to strike.

I read about the Child's Play remake on Sci-Fi Wire. I really hope most of those othres are BS. Robocop does not need a remake, and I doubt anyone could pull it off competently. They'd probably decide to make it more seriously, and pull out all the satirical social comentary.

I would dread a remake of Friday the 13th. It was the only one of its franchise that isn't a monster movie. It was sort of Psycho in reverse, as a teen movie.

I get the feeling it would more likely be a remake of part II, as I doubt that Mrs. Voorhees would be the actual killer.

I'd rather Robocop vs the Terminators (that game was badass back in the day) than a straight up remake of Robocop.
