It's funny how true that is, but how people without kids sometimes just don't get it. From the person who said they wouldn't sell their toys to make room for or to afford a kid, to the people who get upset when you no longer have time to do other things, there are a lot of people who just don't understand, perhaps even can't understand, just how much kids change everything.

You almost can't understand, at least until your wife drops something like this on you:

You know, I'd never have thought that I'd sell any of my collection, outside of perhaps the odd double figure. Never would I sell a grail figure, like my G1 Overlord. And yet, when something like that is laid on you, everything changes.

This will be our second child. My son, Zander, is now 3 years old. Amazing, too, how quickly time moves when you have kids.

Even some that do have kids, still dont get that things have to change. My son is now sleeping in what used to be my toy room. If you looked at pics between how that room looked before and now, you wouldnt beleive it. I dont mind having to put my stuff in storage. My toy hunting has also decreased by I love hunting for my son's toys and clothes just as much.

Its a shame many people dont get that and I know a few. My wife's friend has a 10 year old son who she sends to his grandparents every weekend just cause she doesnt want to bother with him. He's repeatedly said he doesnt want to go but she sends him anyway. She then just stays at home watching TV. She'll invite friends over, he goes away. Even when she tells her friends to bring their kids, she still sends him away.

Anyways, Im ranting. Congrats on your second!

You don't want to be rude about it, but it's almost like you have to be at times. I've lost count of how many times I've told friends with no kids that, frankly, "you don't get it and you never will till you have kids of your own".

And it's so true. Have a friend whose wife is pregnant with their first. He's already said he had no idea the amount of stress and change it would bring.

Congrats on the second child. I have two myself and it does change everything.

See the article attached that explains to the very naive people who don't have kids why it is a completely new world. I thought the writer did a good job. :)

    damn good article there.

Yeah, it's amazing how quickly you turn willing to burn the world around you, just to make sure your kids have what they need and are okay.

    Congrats man.

Kids are certianlly a game changer and will change your life, but really for the better. I have a 9 year old and a 7 year old and I couldn't imagine my life without them there, especially with all the drama that has been going on in my life as of late, the pain all melts away when they say 'love you daddy'.

    Congrats!! :)

Kids definitely change everything. I'd do anything for my kid. He made me a better person, and no matter how hard my days may get, one smile and hug from him and an "I love you" makes everything else melt away and remind me what truly matters.

congrats! Our first (and only, barring a genuine miracle), just turned 6 months old, and you're 100% right. I haven't picked up my PC3 controller since she was born, I think, let alone shopping for my own toys, or anything.

But my world is MUCH better for what's replaced them. :)

Congrats! Mine are now 6 and 4 and let me tell you, things continue to change and evolve!

Carolyn Hax wasn't kidding when she said "It's needing 45 minutes to do what takes others 15." Oi!
