230 MPG D:
Costs $40,000 though
GM says Chevy Volt could top 230 miles-per-gallon | csmonitor.com
Dude the Volt was unveiled last year...........Or was it early this year??????? hmmmm
but this is the first we heard of the EPA numbers
sweet! but $40,000
Does the Volt use gasoline? Or is it entirely electric?
Electricity for 40 miles, then it switches to petrol

on the topic, someone use that math stuff to figure out how long it would take for the car to pay for itself
I think the only way they can claim that is basically it has a very effective recharge cycle and that the gas powered engine will run for only minute cycles between charges. I mean think about it a diesel-electric train engine can get upwards of close to 400 mpg so I'm guessing it might be based on similar concepts.
The Nissan Leaf is pretty neat as well, but it's all electric with a range of 100 miles. Apparently, Portland is one of the trial cities where charging stations are going to be placed around the city for the cars. (Supposedly charges to 80% capacity in 30 minutes; no mention of price that I could find.) I'm excited to drive one once Zipcar adds them to their fleet.
Ok so we are going to save you lots of gas money, then turn around and make the car sell for twice what other cars of the same size sell for therefore nullyfing any potential cost savings you would have had/any addition to our horrendously bankruptcy ridden bottom line.
sure the price is way off, but it's GM we're talking about, they just suffered a bankruptcy
Funny with GM logic, the Tesla Roadster gets infiniti miles per gallon.
Let me google that for you
sorry but I just had to try that out
