Seems like this was a stealth edit to the original semi-confirmation via GM:

Chevy Volt Unmasked on Transformers 2 Set Is "Not Production Vehicle," but Close

So basically it was thrown in there for GMC advertising.

It's still cool that it's going to be in there, even if just for a little advertising for it.

Well, that sucks. I think the Volt would've made a good TF. Oh, well.

I imagine a scene where it somehow manages to trip up a Decepticon or something and an Autobot turns to face the audience, gives a thumbs up and says "That's the kind of power you get from a cool clean efficient hybrid vehicle. Buy GM™."

Yes! I'm right! Although, I was looking forward to a Chevy Volt Transformers figure.

    I definately don't believe that.

So they are putting a new, shiny concept volt just to be a car driving around? Unless it's one of the main character's car (Sam, Mikaela, Alice), that's not believable.

LOL! You know you just gave someone in advertising a good idea. Don't be surprised to see this in a few months on the tube.

Yeah, smells a bit like "God dammit! People weren't supposed to see that! Kowalsky..run interference!"

Seems unlikely they'd let another one/few-of-a-kind prototype out of the garage for a cameo as a regular car. They're gonna wanna pimp that shit, yo. Not like you need the car for the scenes where it's all robot. One or two days of filming is enough time to get a lot of footage of the car driving, particularly if it's only in a few scenes and/or one location. How long did it take to film all two of Bonecrusher's vehicle scenes, hmm?

    :lol

What's to stop Hasbro from realeasing one anyway?

They could pull a scene where the Beat and the Trax, newly arrived to Earth, mistake it for a sentient being, and Bumblebee has to explain to them that Earth cars aren't sentient.
