Is it me or did the movies feel like it was missing characterazation of the Transformers themselves. Sure they have their meaningful lines but I'm talking about the cheesy dialogue that comes from the TFs battling each other. I wanted to hear Starscream say "Take this Autobrat!" or Ironhide say to a comrade their name and something with it like "Jolt, Get Down!" It makes it easier to know who is who but it also adds more personality to the Transformers. I know its cheesy but I feel that the little bit they did in the first movie but did NOT do in the second was surely lacking.

yeah, Im actually surprised they didn't make more statements like that, Rodimus Primal, seeing as how that's the kind of dialogue they've used for years to let kids know which characters are named what, so they can go and buy the right toys. Toys like Sideswipe, and The Fallen, available now at fine retailers everywhere!

Seriously, they didn't name half the characters in the movie, IIRC. I guess the kids are just going to have to be like

"mommy, buy me the blue car!"

Personally, since the movies are the work of Michael Bay, I would prefer some bad-ass dialogue coming from the TFs as opposed to cheesy dialogue best used for cartoons.

The first movie had some, ie "It's Starscream!" or "I am Megatron!" This movie had a few as well, like "Hang on, Mudflap!" or the ever classic "BUMBLEBEE!" But in all honesty, I'm glad they didn't. It's not particularly hard to research a movie beforehand and see who all the characters are. And if they had, it would've just been another reason for critics to pan it.

From a "letting kids know which toys to ask for" perspective...

The first film had the Autobot roll call in the alley where Sam met Prime for the first time, lots of names used in the Autobot sequence under the bridge, and the Decepticons' responses on the way to Mission City (where they were even spelled out). Would have been a bit of a problem for kids asking for Devastator, but other than that, lots of name references (for the Autobots, at least). I think the Autobots used the names quite a few times in the first film.

Most of the Autobots were introduced (in some way) by name in RotF (even Jolt, with his oh so large role). 'con-wise, Soundwave, Ravage Devastator and The Fallen were all named. I don't recall Demolishor, Sideways or the individual Constructicons being named, though.

No, every character lacked some character.

But, you know it's a Michal Bay film where you turn off your mind.

Wait... We were missing cheesy dialogue?

    What?

    "Damn, I'm good!"

    "Let's roll!"

Actually made me wince in their awfulness, and the awfulness of their delivery.

    Crap.

I posted in the Movie Forum again...

I prefer the non-cheesy dialog. I couldn't see the movie bots saying stuff like that.

What I really meant by the dialogue is like AniProwl said in that they were all missing some character. I would have liked to see the Transformers talk a little more in the battle scenes just so we got into them a little more besides the ones they wanted to showcase (The Twins). Just watch any episode of G1 and then watch ROTF and you'll know what I mean. Maybe its just Bay's directing or just the writing but I really feel there was a disconnect here with the movie's bots.

What Bayverse films lack is character reaction due to the fact none of the new guys barely had dialogue except Old Bot Jetfire and the Twins (shudders)

Character reactions and dialogue with each to other would give us some character development, but this had maybe three or four scens and that's it.

I mean they had so much money yet they couldn't get voice actors for some of the other guys like 4 of the six Constructicons

And, would it kill them to give Ironhide and Ratchet some more dialogue.

I don't what you movie fanatics with the lack of plot or character developement.

    Oh yeah...

Turning off one of your most important organs-The brain.

    Just like Patrick Star.

Unlike him who can go back to thinking about something in a minute.

You guys go Uhhhhhhh... Pretty girls, big explosions, and giant robots. (For almost 3 straight hours)

As for me, I'll watch the more superior sci-fi sequals like Empire Strikes Back,T2, Matrix Reloaded with some popcorn instead of spending nine bucks watching this.

I watched the two best scenes this movie can offer (Shangai and Forest) on-line.

I hate how Hasbro threw out Animated or any 25th anniversary stuff out the window for this disappointing film. I mean other big cartoons and franchises have some good stuff coming their way. After RoTF is out of theatres, what do we have? Almost a year of waiting til the next toon shows up.

I also hate how it's beating movies that are worth their place in the box office.
