I own all those figures, though my arcee and bumblebee are the NYCC versions, and they are not cheap plastic. I've held $0.99 knockoffs, and these are way higher quality. May I ask why you feel this way?

^ They're also somewhat smaller, dude. And of course you're going to be able to see light through her hands. It's a bright color plastic and there's no reason for her hand to be thick.

If anything, the plastic on these figures feels better than anything we've had since some time before Animated began.

I have the first wave and haven't noticed anything wrong in terms of plastic quality.

Sure they are smaller but the awesome transformations and detail make up for that.

Yeah the figures are lighter, i just picked up classics astrotrain off my shelf for comparison, but that's because the designs are more plastic and size conservative, but doesn't mean the quality of plastic is cheaper. The plastic feels just right to me

My copies feel just fine to me. It might be your own brand of copies that are having a bit of quiltey issues. It happens often sometimes.

Jazz210 is right on the plastic being lighter but the quality is just as good and some may even say a bit better than other toy lines. The reason the plastic is so much lighter is because it is a newer/different compound mixture.

I don't know, I have DOTM figures that have translucent plastic in some parts. Prime figures feel fine to me. But it's true they don't make them like they used to.

maybe they used a diffent type of plastic not the same one that we have like in the movie llne and previous animated line! and maybe they are just examining the type of plastic! and yeah they don't feel cheap at all you "JAZZ2210"its maybe your imagination and or the color! yeah we havent gotten these these type of color too, or the same type of plastic they used to make the Kre-0 line it sure has the same fell to it! like it is light!

They are most definitely lighter, but I chalk that up to a move to a lighter plastic to allow for the more intricate transformations. It's certainly not cheap KO plastic, I'd say if anything it probably costs the same as previous plastics, and was chosen for being capable of being durable while also being able to handle the kind of stuff a Transformer's plastic parts needs to go through.

Certainly not KO plastic. I've had KOs with some very nasty plastic, no way even the bubbles on the packaging are going that low.

Well, changes in the density of the plastic would almost certainly be due to a change in plastic type or mixture. It could be an entirely different polymer, for all we know, but it's likely to be similar in nature so they can use as much of the same manufacturing techniques and equipment as possible (for cost reasons).

Ironically, lighter plastic is often more expensive than heavier, denser plastic, and may be less likely to crack and able to bend further without permanent deformation. It could also be that the heavier plastics of the movie line would have raised manufacturing, detail, or safety issues when molded into the light, willowy shapes of the Prime figures.
