Scarem is pretty cool. I'd avoid Optimus Minor though. He kinda sucks.

You may not like my honesty here but USD $3-$15 ain't gonna land you on some of the coolest models. And it defintely won't help much IF that toy was a show/screen character.

    Ebay:
I recommend Transmetal 2 Prowl. He is my favorite Transformer, and he can be relatively cheap (I got a MOSC black version for $15 and a loose white one for $5 @ TFCon). So, unless he went up in value recently, he's right in your price range, and there are two versions, in case you don't like one.

And he transforms into an owl. That makes him cool.

I know this figure won't necessarily be cheap, but he's full of awesome:

I'm not really a BW guy, but I really like some of the BW Neo figures. Longrack, Corhada, Archadis and Heinlad are the ones that I've liked enough to buy. Heinlad is such an oddity that I kinda consider him an essential part of my collection.

also if you don't mind the recolors and minor remolds, amada line has some recolored bots from beast wars with added minicon ports, and they're usually fairly cheap since they're repaints and non screen characters from the not very popular armada line.

Scout size BW toys are really fun. I have Japanese repaints of some and find them all great.
As for Japan only BW, everyone should own Stampy from BW Neo. The rabbit mode looks crazy and the bot mode is adorable. Break the penguin is a nice oddity, but as a TF toy he's too mush of a shellformer.

I just picked up a Stampy myself. Toyarena has him for $8.00. Good deal!

And I picked up this guy (TM Spittor) a few days ago for $5 from a shop here. There's a lot of great detail and it's a really fun figure, IMO.

I forgot to mention, but I have scored the majority of my BW stuff from garage sales/2nd hand stores/craigslist. You can get stuff super cheap and sometimes from a collector who takes good care of their stuff. I dont think I've ever paid over $20 for any BW item from any of those places, and I've gotten good, big stuff such as Optimal Optimus, Depth Charge, Rampage, etc, etc.

Ha! Maybe I'll get a few more than I planned, but I'm not a completist on anything except Robot Heroes (still need one of the lesser Movie Megatrons).

What are your top 5 Beast Era toys?

I've seen BW toys go for cheap at Botcon... but I've seen them go for super cheap at local comic conventions, so give those a shot to :)

    My faves:

1.) 10th anniversary ultra Megatron from the TRU 2-pack

2.) Polar Claw, love the angry face!

3.) First season Cheetor, just a great proportioned fig.

4.) Tripredacus, insane transformation. I got mine on ebay for around 20$. searching Botcon should yeild a cheap one for ya.

In general Transmetals are pretty awesome. The good thing about botcon is you get to see the toys first hand, at least with loose figures. You might be able to find a loose Transmetal 2 megatron for under 20$ if you dont mind a missing missile or 2(he comes with 3)
