The Ark and the Nemesis originally the unnamed ships that brought the Transformers to Earth.

Originally they are depicted as flagships downed on Earth.(G1)
These vessels are revisited in Beast Wars. Further iterations depict them as normal sized flagships.(comic mediums Ark and Nemesis, Animated and Movie Nemesis)

Later Japanese productions and localization took the names and made them planetary sized ships capable of great destruction.
In Beast Wars II the Destrons have a world sized Nemesis capable of feeding on planets. In Cybertron the Ark is a planetary sized gunship made by Primus to end the Unicron Singularity.

Recently the concept of the Ark and Nemesis are used as forms of previous established characters. Animated Omega Supreme in all but name is the Ark. In Transformers: Exodus
    Trypticon is a Nemesis-class supercruiser
boarded by Megatron to go after the Autobot's Ark.

I think it's unnesessary for TF to make all their spaceships as TF too. Some of minor ships is, for ex. Skyfire and Sky Lynx, but for Ark and Nemesis it's not nesessary. As for planetary sized ones, we have Primus(Cybertron) and Unicron.

I got no problem with Transformers that are actual spaceships, and planetary sized Transformers...but the Ark and the Nemesis should not fall into either of these categories IMO.

I voted for starshipformers. Honestly, it makes a lot of sense. In the cartoon they always flew around in Jetfire, Omega Supreme or Astrotrain. In fact Omega could've been the Ark in the cartoon, it's just he hadn't been created by HasTak yet thereby displaying the show's lack of conceptual foresight (whereas in the comic Omega was created on Earth). From a writing standpoint it's easier to reveal a ship was a character, because the audience already invests in the ship as the character's home, and frankly revealing it was alive is one of the things Transformers should do.

Random question, Exodus A - isn't out as a TPB yet, right? and B - is still part of the Infiltration timeline and not the AHM, correct?

I like starship transformers, but why name 'em Ark and Nemesis unnless it's a secret?

Omega Supreme and Trypticon are much cooler names.

According to TFwiki (no citation) Exodus and WFC are preludes to TF: Prime.

So Exodus isn't part of any particular ongoing series right now?

Exodus was said to be a prequel/back story for WFC but it seems the events dont quite match up to WFC's.

More like a parallel continuity. WFC and Exodus has plot devices and name dropping from all over the franchise that they would be considered a mixed continuity.

One of the not so important revelations in Exodus is the Fallen's real name which is hinted as
    Megatronus
    Prime.

And technically speaking Megatron may have started the Decepticons here but much like BW Megatron who took his name from history they named themselves after an ancient mythical group called Decepticons. (Sort of like Dreamwave G1 where Cybertron and Destrons are mythical ancient factions.)

In a way this kind of gives a plausible explanation for the Decepticons in the Movieverse on how they sort of predate the Autobots. Megatron's Decepticons are more of a second generation splitting from the Autobots while the Seekers are directly descended from the first generation Decepticons of the Fallen.

But that always bothered me in the movie. The Decepticons wouldn't predate the Autobots, the "first" Autobots would have been the other Primes.

Of course it also bothered me that Sam assumed Skids and Mudflap could read the markings but BB couldn't.

Maybe he just figured that even if Bee could read them, he couldn't tell them what they meant. What with the whole "being mute" thing...
