So let me get this striaght... Collectors will be buying more eco-friendly packages only to send them to a toy grader which will seal it in a plastic case?!

and Hasbro, you can save on packaging altogether and just send any G1 reissues straight to my house!
    Thanks!

Who throws away the packaging? All my TFs are in their original packaging. They have been opened, but it's easier to store and trnsport them with their packaging. If the current plastic isn't biodegradable, it should at least be recyclable.

Outside of my 3rd party figures and MP's, every other package has been disgarded.

Good move on Hasbro's part - I suspect they'll be moving to a different type of plastic though, rather than eliminating bubbles and windows altogether. I can't see them having completely open packaging, nor 'blind-packing' everything in cardboard.

Honestly, I suspect we won't notice too much of a difference. It'll probably be similar to what we have now, but probably a lot more streamlined and the plastic will be of a more biodegradable style, like others have said. (After all, they said they want to reduce it by 90%... That still gives them 10% to play with there.)

I can't wait to see how packaging will look?

But if they're changing the "lame packaging", isn't that a good thing?

Plus, it kind of sounds like you're being totally ignorant of WHY this is a good thing. Hasbro is making packages as enviromentally friendly as possible, this reduces total waste output from their products, and that's a LOT of waste product being removed from the process.

Although I do have to wonder how this will impact the preservation of future toy packages. I keep my boxes around (for storage means if I ever need to put my figures away for a long-term period), plus there's still tech specs and bios on the packages as well, so what will become of those over time?

Most kids do. Kids being by far the largest segment of TF toy consumers. If I give one of my nephews a Transformer for a birthday or Christmas, that box doesn't even last until the end of the day. They rip into it to get the toy out and the box goes right into the trash bag with the wrapping paper. I sometimes have to remind the parent to hang on to the instruction sheet and not let it go into the trash with the box.

Most kids don't develop the collector/hoarder mentality until later.

    Good news!

Random speculation...if they are implementing this very soon, could this have resulted in the delay of movie wave 6?

    I find this slightly hilarious.

More eco friendly by having less plastic packaging... oh a big 'ol hunk of plastic toy!

    But seriously, good move.

I wonder if this will make things more or less expensive. I'm going with less because they'll be making the protective windows out of corn or something.

Idea, return to G1 style boxes with a better plastic wiindow to see inside with.

Use recycled/biodegradable materials to support the figures.

More room for artwork! less packaging waste.
