Well after Jux's thread "Huge 'Ocean' Discovered Inside Earth", Finding water deep below the earth, could it be possible that the center isn't mag-ma. No one has ever been there or seen it so???

    I say...hard cold magnetic rocks.

I'd always read it was heavy radioactive metals that sink... the heat from them causes the convection currents in the magma. So I always read... it's prolly like fairy land or something, though. All elves and dwarves and stuff...

Although those natural nuclear reactors in Africa sound cool as well (don't ask me where, found then in google earth by accident while looking for Lake Tele) and along those same lines.

I think earth is like a giant candy with a nice nougaty center. Then the moon is a giant jawbreaker since it has been hit by so much shit but is still intact.

No, you're confusing the center of the Earth with my heart, a frigid lump of rock spinning in my chest.

It's a iron-nickel alloy super heated under intense pressure, the pressure is so high that even though the core's temperature is around 9000 degrees (Fahrenheit) it's solid.

Every one knows the center of the earth is a jungle with giant lizards with fins glued to there backs that sort of make them look like some half assed dinosaurs.

I hear Ray Harryhausen has a place down there, too. A nice little mansion, guarded by skeletons and dinosaurs and iguanas.

    ^^

It is indeed possible that the center of the Earth isn't magma. In fact, it's what D_C described.

We know a lot about the composition about our planet. And in fact, the "ocean" discovered beneath the planet isn't an ocean in the sense that we know - it's still rock, but there's just a lot of water involved in it.

A good deal about what they know of the earth's center is made from indirect observation. The magnetic field alone is evidence of a molten metal core. The density can be calculated my measuring the differntial between the way s and p waves travel through the earth following a quake.

I am reasonably certain that, if we could get down below the crust we would find things that are suprising, but I doubt that the basic picture is far off.

Pressure can keep substances from changing states. It doesn't matter if the temperature at the core of the earth is high enough that any material down there would be in a liquid state. If there's enough pressure on the material it can never expand enough to turn into a liquid.
