After seeing the video IGN has (a trailer & gameplay footage), and hunting down the issue of Nintendo Power that has it as a cover feature, I have to admit, I'm really looking forward to this one.

It's also nice to see a female character playable in the main game, and kind of odd that they've apparently retconned CV 64 back INTO the storyline, but like comics, few things are ever permanent in the world of video games. :p  The character switching feature looks cool, too, and I'm hopeful they'll use it well.

Anyone else looking forward to this one? I'm putting down a preorder for it.

and it's about damn time that IGA realized that CV64 and LoD were damn good games. Though the reason for the recon is because the people of KCEK (whom created those games along with circle of themoon) are involved in this game. Honestly I think they're better than IGA with story even though IGA does do gameplay better. So hopefully this game should be pure joy.

Agreed. This might be the best one in years. *crosses fingers* EDIT: Not that Dawn of Sorrow was bad, mind you! I like that game a lot, but this one has me really pumped.

I'll definitely be picking it up. although if the last boss fight is as annoying as the one in CotM I may have to take a trip to Japan to smack some people upside the head.

Yeah, it's for the DS. IGN's DS site has some media for it. I recommend watching the videos, if you can.

About CoTM bosses... I thought the Twin Zombie Dragons and the Battle Arena were way, way harder than Dracula's final form (the trick is to abuse the super jump when he starts rushing you).

same here... the only portable CV game I didnt care for was COM and that's cause it was hard as hell... like hard mode on all the other CV games... the last DS game kick a ton of tail, so if this one is anything CLOSE to that one it'll be dy no mite

I liked the card magic system CotM had. Thinking back, I never foudn that game very hard either. Even did all the modes you unlock after beating it. The Magician was fun as hell.

Which is exactly what I did, but it made for an amazingly boring and thumb-numbing boss fight. However, it certainly didn't ruin the game, and if Portrait of Ruin is anywhere near as good as CotM (and hopefully it'll be even better) it'll be a must buy.

The should have named it Portrait of Sorrow, or P.O.S. for short. Get it?

Just kidding, I love Castlevania games.

If I didn't go on Gamefaqs, I would have settled for the dumbest ending ever, while playing DOS. I knew something wasn't quite right.

Looks alright, but I was hoping for some more continuation of the Belmont vs Dracula story, and I was really hoping the next game would be the war against Dracula in 1999.

Magician mode and Thief mode were a lot of fun... especially Thief mode. Low stats don't matter much when everything drops tons of healing items.

The only thing I don't like about CotM is having to beat up certain enemies over and over again to get them to drop cards, but getting 100% souls is even more repetitive in AoS and DoS, so it all evens out, I guess.

I just had more fun with the other two games.. I dunno what it was exactly. the castles, the souls, a lotta factors I guess... still wish we could get one where you had an item similar to alucards sword or the shield rod that gave your items magic powers...
