    Do it.

If you can offer the same parts for a lower cost then maybe it'll drive prices down for everyone.

I am guilty to say if they were cast cheaper I would buy them. Crazy Devy charges way too much for them.

I don't CD charges to much for said parts, however if I could have bought similar part for less, I would be inclined to buy those instead. Also, I agree with mega havok, lay off the guy. I mean seriously. Yes, I undestand the "if it were me creating these parts, then you recasted them, you'd be a dick in my eyes" but all he did was ask if basically there was any one interested in having a reproduced CD part. He didn't hurt any one, and how is it ANY different than frenzy_rumble making casts of the buster prime face, or darkov reproducing weapons and accessories??? It isn't and I'm rather sure that when either one of those guys started doing said actions that you hadn't thrown a bitchfit then, now did you? I bet the reason you guys are so upset is because you bought the CD set at retail, n are pissy cause you coulda possibly gotten them for a lesser price if this guy were to go though with this.. Take some chillxine and back the hell off the guy.

It's called recasting and it's a massive dick move to make money off someone else's work.

Because these parts arent already available for purchase on their own, as the crazy devy parts are. it's completely different. This would be re-casting the entire product.

Nope. I havent bought any crazy devy parts. I don't even own a G1/G2 devastator.

By your logic, selling drugs,or stolen cars is legal until getting caught.

That's a total bullshit answer,it's still wrong and illegal to do so.

unless there is a patent or filed copyright...which you bet the hell there is not since they are creating parts for a copyrighted toy without the original creaters blessing or permission...there is no legal protection for this company...so yes you could recast these parts and resell them and crazydevy can't do shit about it.

He is right, but I may be producing larger ones for the leader class sized knock-off and most likely selling them cheaper than the small ones. :D

NOW PUT THE TOPIC TO REST!

Copyright is automatic as soon as you put pen to paper. You don't need to register it (although it does help if you later need to prove it).

Patents would be different - they are registered and would have to be protected to be maintained, however they're expsnsive and so likely not worthwhile for something like the CD parts.

This isn't actually relevant. If they were making reproduction / KO Devastators, then yes, they'd need Hasbro's / Takara's permission. Making add-on parts, however, is no different to e.g. after-market car enhancements. They may be designed to work with existing designs, but as they're not using Hasbro's actual designs there's no copyright infringement.

There is no inherent copyright over things just because you made them.

Read Lucasfilm and Others v Ainsworth.
